This book was a shorter read, but whew… it tackled some heavy topics. It centered around grief and loss, and I really appreciated seeing it through a male perspective. We don’t always get to see men navigate heartbreak, faith, and healing in books, so that stood out to me.
One thing I also liked was how the story explored losing your faith or questioning God’s plan after experiencing tragedy. Those moments felt real and relatable.
Now Mega… 😂 he’s still hilarious and had me laughing when I needed it most. And Ruth and Mega’s community? They were so supportive, and I loved seeing everyone rally around them.
As for Solomon… baby, he was a whole piece of work. 😭 But I’m glad the author kept him around because he definitely brought the drama and kept things interesting.
Overall, I gave this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5), and the series as a whole also gets a solid 4.5/5 from me. It was heartfelt, funny, emotional, and definitely worth the read.

Too often, literature overlooks the male perspective on such deeply personal experiences, which makes this particular story stand out. It’s refreshing to see a narrative that doesn’t shy away from showing vulnerability, including moments of questioning faith and loss of belief, which many people face after tragedy but aren’t often openly discussed.
Mega’s humor throughout the story provided much-needed relief, reminding me how laughter can be an essential coping mechanism when dealing with pain. The supportive community around Ruth and Mega also emphasized the importance of having a strong network in times of hardship—a reminder that healing is rarely a solo journey.
Solomon’s character added an intriguing layer of drama, making the story more engaging and realistic. It showed that family and interpersonal conflicts are part of navigating grief and can sometimes hinder or help the healing process.
Overall, this book is a powerful blend of emotional depth and humor. It left me thinking about the complexities of faith, the male experience in emotional healing, and the role community plays. For anyone interested in heartfelt stories that challenge traditional portrayals of masculinity and spirituality, this read is highly recommended.
