Watching my dad teach my son hits different today

This weekend meant more than anything I do in the office.

We took a trip out to celebrate my dad turning 80, and it turned into one of those moments you wish you could slow down.

From a stop in Blythe playing golf with my boys, to a full family night at the Diamondbacks game in Arizona, to time at the rifle range—one of my dad’s favorite things—watching him teach my sons… that’s something I’ll never forget.

Seeing three generations together, sharing the same experiences, is what it’s all about.

We wrapped it up with more golf, more laughs, and time you just can’t replace.

As a dad, and as a son, I don’t take moments like this for granted.

Grateful for time, family, and the chance to be present for it all.

Happy 80th, Dad.

If you’re new here, I’m a chiropractor sharing stories from the office and life outside of it.

... Read moreFamily moments like these are truly priceless, especially as we see the generations connect and pass down traditions. From childhood, I’ve always appreciated how my dad finds joy in sharing his passions, like golfing and his time at the rifle range. Watching him patiently teach my sons felt different — it was a full circle moment where my dad became a teacher, my sons eager learners, and I a grateful witness to it all. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in work and daily responsibilities, much like my typical days at the chiropractic office. But experiences like this remind me that the real value of life lies in being present with loved ones, sharing laughter, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Celebrating an 80th birthday across generations is a powerful reminder of family legacies. Whether you’re a parent or a grandchild, these moments reflect the love, patience, and lessons that shape us. Activities like golfing or attending a ballgame become more than hobbies — they turn into shared experiences that strengthen family bonds. For anyone looking to deepen family ties, I encourage taking time to create multi-generational experiences. Whether it’s teaching a skill, sharing stories, or simply spending an afternoon together, these moments create a lasting impact. They invite gratitude and appreciation for the gift of family. Reflecting on this weekend, I’m so grateful for the chance to witness my dad’s passions being passed down, and for the laughter and joy that filled our time. These are the real moments that matter — the ones that build a foundation of love and togetherness across generations.

Waiting can feel like standing in the middle of nowhere—watching others move forward while you stay still, unsure if God even heard you. But let me remind you: waiting is not punishment. It’s preparation. It’s protection. It’s alignment. It’s proof that what God is doing in you is just as important
