The reality of working in Animal Control. Some cases don't just stay with you. They change you. This was, without a doubt, the largest and one of the most life-altering cases I've ever been a part of. Over 1,000 deceased animals. 230 surviving animals. And a responsibility my team and I i

A reminder to everyone working in animal welfare: You matter, too. 🤍 We spend so much of our time worrying about the animals. The ones still waiting for help, the calls that haven't been answered, the next emergency, the next rescue, and the ones we couldn't save. We carry so much, often witho

I get asked if I handle cat calls, and the answer is absolutely YES. In fact, this is a case I've had open for almost an entire year. Not every case is closed by the end of the day. Some require multiple follow-ups, months of treatment, coordination with community members, and a whole lot of pat

Today, Boba got his moment in the spotlight at the Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting as the Pet of the Month! 🐾🥰 No matter how annoying it may get, I’ll always use my voice and fight for the ones who cannot do it for themselves. Because at the end of the day, it’s for the animals. Alway

A property up for auction in Laton, California, here in Fresno County, was discovered to have 15 abandoned dogs and puppies left behind, both inside and outside the home. We don’t know how long they had been left there, but thankfully, the person who discovered them left food and water out until

We are the future of this planet, and people don’t take that responsibility nearly as seriously as they should. The world we leave behind is being shaped by the choices we make today, tomorrow, and yesterday. Make yours count. Just some thoughts. Because I never expected to carry so much heartb

Just another day in the life of an Animal Control Officer… 🐾 Today’s call came in as an injured fox that had reportedly been seen dragging itself through an orchard. I arrived, found the drag marks, and followed them across the road and into an overgrown vineyard. Of course, visibility was basic

This is the reality behind the scenes of animal control, and I want to give some perspective on the urgent plea my shelter put out today. We responded to a call for 16 dogs who had been left behind at a property after their owner moved away more than three weeks ago and never returned. These dog

What starts as a typical leash law call in Fresno can turn into something so much bigger, pretty fast. My officers were initially called out after a report of a pack of dogs running loose and charging at a woman in the neighborhood. Thankfully, no one was injured, and while they were already on

Meet DJ🥺 He’s 5 years old, incredibly friendly, sweet, and just wants to be loved. But when you look at him, you can see that life hasn’t been very kind to this boy. DJ was attacked as a puppy and suffered a serious jaw injury that was never properly treated. His jaw was left to heal on its o

I responded to a welfare check for dogs living in small crates inside a garage, and the moment I stepped inside, the heat hit me. And the realization of the situation did too. Seeing the conditions these dogs had been living in absolutely broke my heart. This is a reminder that asking for help

This past week I sadly had to respond to a call for 17+ dogs left behind after their owner passed away. This call started as an assessment because we are already at critical shelter capacity. Unfortunately, the situation was much more dire than expected. With so many dogs needing help, we ha

“Spay & neuter is too expensive.” 👀 But if you’re in the Central Valley, resources like the SNIP Bus are available to help. 🚐✂️ And with how severely overpopulated we are with animals, spaying and neutering is one of the most important things we can do to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the

This is an update I really wish I didn’t have to make. I know some of you will be heartbroken by this one, and honestly, I’m sorry. I was hoping to come back with a completely different update. Especially because he already had a rescue lined up after seeing his video. Unfortunately, the senior

This old boy was found lying in the mud in an orchard alongside a busy highway. He is severely underweight, malnourished, suffering from significant hair loss, and injured to the point that he was too weak to get himself up. Thankfully, a passerby noticed him and stopped to make sure he was stil

“Why aren’t you answering your phone?” 📱 Is honestly a question I get asked so often. But the answer usually always is, because this is what my “office hours” actually look like. 🥴 People often wonder why ACO’s don’t respond to texts or calls right away. Even our own family and friends. Lol T
