This is an update I really wish I didn’t have to make.
I know some of you will be heartbroken by this one, and honestly, I’m sorry. I was hoping to come back with a completely different update. Especially because he already had a rescue lined up after seeing his video. Unfortunately, the senior dog from my last video did not make it.
I know people say they have a love/hate relationship with my videos, and I completely understand why. You get invested in these animals. You root for them. You hope that after everything they’ve endured, their story will finally have a happy ending. And when it doesn’t, it hurts. Trust me, I get it.
But I want the new people here to understand something about me and why I share these videos.
I’m an Animal Control Officer and the Field Supervisor for the Animal Control Department at Fresno Humane Animal Services, serving Fresno County. Saving animals has always been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I didn’t choose this work because I don’t like animals. I chose it because I love them so much that I’m willing to sacrifice parts of myself for them. Every day.
I put my all into these animals. I’ve dedicated and sacrificed a lot in my life to do what I do for them. And even when I’m off the clock, I spend my own time making videos, networking animals, educating, sharing their stories and trying to give them the chance they deserve.
So when the one you’ve been rooting for doesn’t make it… it kills a little something inside of you that is already hurting from the work we do.
We see the worst days of these animals’ lives. We carry their stories home with us. We celebrate the wins, but we also grieve the ones we couldn’t save.
I’m sorry this is the update. It’s not the one I wanted to give you either. 😔
But I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep fighting. I’ll keep telling their stories.
Because even when we can’t save them all, they still deserved someone who cared enough to try.
As for updates on the animals I post, you can also follow @Fresno Humane Animal Services here, FB, and IG. If the animals in my posts haven’t went to rescue already, you can usually find them on there playing or when they’re available for adoption. 🐾
Working in animal rescue is an emotionally taxing yet deeply rewarding experience. From my own encounters, I’ve learned that saving animals is about more than just finding them a home — it’s about giving them dignity and a chance to experience love again. Senior dogs, in particular, face unique challenges as they often require specialized care, which makes rescue efforts all the more critical but also more complex. In my time volunteering at animal shelters, I’ve witnessed the intense commitment of animal control officers and volunteers who pour their hearts into every case. Just like the Fresno Humane team, many go beyond their job duties, creating videos and sharing stories online to reach wider networks for rescue placement. Every animal’s story impacts those who devote their lives to this cause. When a rescue doesn’t succeed, it’s incredibly painful, but it also strengthens the resolve to continue fighting for others. I’ve seen firsthand how public support can make a difference—not only by adopting pets but also by spreading awareness and volunteering. For anyone following such stories, it helps to remember that behind every rescue is a dedicated professional who sacrifices personal comfort to improve animals’ lives. They witness not only the joy of successful adoptions but also the sorrow when a dog doesn't make it. These moments often lead to greater community involvement and a shared commitment to help more animals at risk. If you are moved by these stories, consider following local Humane societies and animal control accounts on social media to stay informed about adoptable pets and ways to help. Donations, foster care, or even sharing posts can make a significant impact and bring hope to many deserving animals.
