After seeing so many beautiful photos, I finally made it to Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park to explore the famous KD Trail Park, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This gem in Twin Lakes, WI, truly lives up to its reputation for stunning natural beauty. My morning hike on the 2.89-mile Red Loop was exactly what I needed to recharge. There's ample parking available near the trailheads, making access super convenient. Just plug 'Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park' into your GPS, and you'll find it easily. Best Time to Go: I went in the morning, and the conditions were perfect – cool air and clear skies, which is ideal for photography. Spring and early summer are fantastic for seeing the wildflowers in full bloom, and fall must be incredible with all the changing leaf colors. Even on a bright blue sky day, the tree cover provides a nice shade. What to Bring: Definitely wear comfortable hiking shoes; while the Red Loop isn't overly strenuous, it is a dirt trail. Don't forget your water bottle, especially if you plan to do the full loop. A camera is a must for capturing those 'great views' I mentioned! Sunscreen and bug spray are also good ideas, depending on the season. Trail Difficulty: The Red Loop is generally considered easy to moderate.
