A powerful winter storm swept across much of Alberta on Wednesday and has since moved east, but dangerous road conditions remain.
Strong winds and heavy snow created hazardous travel from areas near Grande Prairie and Slave Lake down to the Canada–U.S. border, causing whiteout conditions in some regions.
🚨 RCMP say the storm led to a massive pileup involving 80–100 vehicles, forcing the closure of Highway 2 between Airdrie and Calgary in both directions.
Highway 2 was also closed southbound from Olds to Crossfield, with another collision near Bowden shutting down additional lanes.
🙏 Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Please stay safe out there, Alberta. ❄️🚗💙
