Pastor Phra Sai, Nong Khai Province

Luang Phra Phra Sai is a Buddha statue of the Pang Mavijaya Buddha, cast in ripe gold, very beautiful in appearance, enshrined in the Prabhat, Pho Chai Temple (Rama Luang), Muang District, Nong Khai Province. It is a double Buddha statue that the people of Nong Khai and the Thai-Lao people respect.

The history of King Phra Sai is tied to the history of the million elephants and has been described as follows:

👑 Birth of three daughters of a million elephants.

According to legend, His Majesty the King of the Kingdom of Million Elephants, along with three daughters, the Rib, the Auxiliary, and the Clear, created three Buddhas by the name of each of his daughters as the names of the Buddhas:

The Buddha (the eldest daughter)

Auxiliary monk (with the middle daughter)

Phra Sai (with the youngest daughter)

In the early days, the three Buddhas were enshrined in Vientiane, Laos.

🌊 The summons across the Mekong and the miracle "ripe monk" drowned.

In the early Ratchonin period (the third reign), the rebellion of the young King of Vientiane, in Bangkok, summoned important Buddha images from Vientiane across to Thailand, including the Buddha, the Buddha, and the Buddha.

During the relocation of the Mekong River, a significant incident occurred:

1 Drowning Buddha: When the convoy arrived at the mouth of the Ngum River (Oblique and Pon-range District, Nong Khai Province), there was a severe thunderstorm that caused the altar of the Buddha to sink into the Mekong River, so that it was called "Wen Buddha" to the present day and could not be summoned up.

2 Auxiliary and Clear Monk: Later summoned safely to Nong Khai, the Auxiliary is enshrined at the Temple of the Spear Box, and the Father is enshrined at the Temple of the Prathom (the original Spear Box Temple).

🐂 Miracle broken wagon at Pho Chai Temple

Later, during the 4th reign, he intended to summon additional monks and clear monks from Nong Khai to be enshrined in Bangkok.

An auxiliary monk was summoned on a cart and successfully reached Bangkok (now enshrined at Pathumnaram Temple).

King Phra Sai had a miracle during the transfer when summoning King Phra Sai on the wagon to take him to Bangkok. But when the wagon came to the front of Pho Chai Temple, the wagon immediately broke down. Even if changing the new wagon or using cow / buffalo labor to drag, however, he would not move anywhere until the Brahmin who prayed praying that if King Phra Sai wanted to be enshrined at this Pho Chai temple, let the wagon move, it appeared that the cow could easily drag the wagon into Pho Chai Temple.

Since that time, Father Sai has been enshrined as the Buddha President at Pho Chai Temple, Nong Khai.

💦 Songkran Tradition and "Father of the Clear"

Every year during Songkran Festival (April 13), Nong Khai people have a great tradition: summoning the King Phra Phra Sai down from the rectory to parade around the city for the people and tourists to wash water for the close auspices, an event that reflects the strong faith of the northeast and the Lao people towards this Buddha.
