I just hated abs when I thought it was only a bunch of sit ups and crunches but then I discovered there are so many other exercises out there I could actually enjoy doing so I’m here to share it with you!

Ab workout save:

🌸: Leg lifts 12 reps

... Read moreOkay, so like I said in my original post, I used to absolutely dread ab workouts. The thought of endless crunches and sit-ups just made me want to skip gym day entirely! But after some experimenting, I discovered that building a strong core doesn't have to be a torturous experience. You can actually find enjoyable and super effective workout exercises that target your abs without the boredom. These are the moves that completely changed my perspective, and I truly believe they’ll help you feel strong and confident too! Let's dive a little deeper into why these specific exercises became my ultimate ab workout saviors and how you can get the most out of them. First up, Leg Lifts. When I first saw a woman performing leg raises abdominal workout, I thought it looked simple, but trust me, when done correctly, they are a game-changer for your lower abs. Lie on your back, keep your lower back pressed into the floor (this is key to protect your spine!), and slowly lift your legs straight up towards the ceiling. Control the movement as you lower them, trying not to let them touch the floor. This slow, controlled motion is what really fires up those muscles and helps you build that toned midsection. Next, we have Toe Touches. These are fantastic for your upper abs! Lay on your back, extend your legs straight up, and reach your hands towards your toes. The goal isn't necessarily to touch your toes every time, but to lift your shoulders off the floor and crunch upwards, feeling that squeeze in your core. It’s a great alternative to traditional crunches that feels more engaging. Then there’s the dynamic duo: Elbow to Plank and holding an Elbow Plank. Planks are foundational for a reason; they engage your entire core, including your obliques and lower back, making them a full-body stability builder. When you’re doing an Elbow Plank, focus on keeping a straight line from your head to your heels, squeezing your glutes, and pulling your belly button towards your spine. For the Elbow to Plank, you’re transitioning from your elbows to your hands and back down. This adds a fantastic challenge, working your shoulders and arms while keeping your core super stable. I often see women at the gym rocking this move, and it's definitely inspiring! Finally, Shoulder Taps. These take your standard high plank and add an anti-rotational challenge. From a high plank position, carefully tap one shoulder with the opposite hand, trying to keep your hips as still as possible. This movement really hones in on your core stability and helps prevent your body from swaying, making your abs work overtime. To truly see results and feel that amazing core strength, consistency is key. I aim to do this routine 2-3 times a week, either as a standalone session or tacked onto the end of my regular gym workout. Remember, it’s not just about the numbers of reps, but the quality of each movement. Focus on that mind-muscle connection! After all that hard work, don't forget the cool-down! Stretching abs after workout is super important for flexibility and recovery. Simple stretches like lying on your stomach and gently pushing up through your hands (cobra stretch) or child's pose can feel incredibly good. It helps lengthen the muscles you just worked and prevents soreness. Finding an ab workout you actually look forward to is a game-changer.
