Why did fashion become so neutral, and why are we wearing less color?
Look at photos from 20, 30, 40 years ago. Clothes were more colorful. Stores were more colorful. Restaurants, children’s places, interiors, even gyms were filled with color.
And then, little by little, our world became beige.
I believe part of the answer is overstimulation.
We process an extraordinary amount of information every day. Life moves faster. We see more, consume more, scroll more, and our brains are constantly processing visual information.
When everything already feels like a lot, we naturally gravitate toward simplicity and visual safety.
And neutrals feel safe.
Beige, gray, black, white. They don’t demand much from us visually. They create a blank canvas when everything around us already feels overwhelming.
Color can become overwhelming too, especially when there is no harmony. When colors compete with each other, with their environment, or with the person wearing them, we immediately feel that something is off.
And very often, we retreat back to neutrals.
But there is a way to bring color back into our lives👉🏻follow harmony🙌🏻
Harmonious colors don’t overpower or overwhelm you. They feel cohesive within their environment, whether we are talking about interior design, fashion, or the colors you wear.
✨ And this is exactly where your personal color palette comes in.
The colors within your palette harmonize with your natural coloring: your skin, eyes, hair, undertone, contrast, and overall color characteristics.
They integrate with you. They belong with you.
And when color feels harmonious, it becomes easier to wear, easier to combine, and easier for us to process visually.
Color can feel joyful again. 💕
Expressive. Energizing. Personal.
Maybe we don’t need less color.
Maybe we simply need to understand our colors better. 🤌🏻
