Gen X Women Expected to Do it All

Gen X women were the first generation expected to do it all.

Build the career.

Raise the kids.

Keep the house spotless.

Manage the money.

Show up to every family event.

And look good doing it.

We became over-achievers by survival.

But here’s the cost.

Chronic pressure.

Constant performance.

Zero room to fall apart.

And now in midlife?

We’re exhausted — even if our life looks successful.

If you’re done performing strength and ready to recalibrate —

take the Quiz in my bio.

It’s time to stop doing it all and start choosing yourself.

... Read moreHaving grown up in an era where women were expected to excel simultaneously in multiple demanding roles, Gen X women often found themselves setting high standards not just professionally but personally as well. Building a career meant navigating corporate environments that were not always welcoming to women, while also managing household chores and childcare responsibilities that traditionally fell to them. This relentless juggling act led to chronic pressure and a constant need to perform perfectly, often leaving little opportunity for rest or self-compassion. Even though such women appeared successful on the outside, many experienced deep exhaustion and burnout in midlife. From my own experience and those shared by peers, the realization that it’s impossible to “do it all” without personal cost became a turning point. Recalibrating priorities and learning to say no became essential steps towards preserving mental health and well-being. Choosing yourself—whether that means delegating chores, setting boundaries at work, or dedicating time to self-care—is not selfish but necessary. Resources like reflective quizzes or supportive communities can help in recognizing stress levels and finding strategies for balance. Ultimately, embracing imperfection and prioritizing health over flawless performance can lead to a more fulfilling and sustainable life. For Gen X women, acknowledging these challenges and actively seeking change offers a path to renewed energy and genuine personal success.

Strong literary women that don’t need to be fixed
☠️🔪😵🩸 Basically, these books are a masterclass in strong, complicated women. “Fixing” them? I don't think so. They're way too interesting for that! So I waltzed in here thinking I knew what was up, ready to play Cupid's little helper. Then I saw this bookshelf roundup and, let me

Went as well as I expected…
I came across this TikTok trend where people tell their significant other they signed up for caroling, so I figured I’d give it a try. My girlfriend isn’t exactly the biggest fan of Christmas compared to me, but I thought it’d be funny to see her reaction. Let’s just say… it went about as well as I

🤍I like it more than I expected…
This series of books is very YA and as a 28 year old woman it was off putting, initially. But the more I read the more it is sucking me in (pun intended). If I ignore the fact that the main character is like 17 then I enjoy it a lot more. I’ve been pretending it’s based in a college and not a high

World expectations of women(Etc cleaning, cooking,
What are your thoughts? It’s hard to be a women of a lot of ambition because things are expected of us just simply because we are women. For example I’m a business owner that in the future I don’t want to be a stay at home mom that’s being expected to cook, clean, do laundry, and take care of the
