(From Chapter 7: The Cost of Being the “Strong One

I wrote this book for the people who were called strong when they were actually surviving.

For the ones who kept showing up even when they were empty.

For the ones who held everyone together while quietly falling apart.

For the ones who were relied on, but rarely checked on.

This book is not fiction.

It’s not exaggerated.

It’s lived experience.

Strength No One Applauds is about the kind of strength that doesn’t get praise —

the strength built in silence, loyalty, endurance, and truth.

The kind that forms when stopping was never an option.

I didn’t write this to blame anyone.

I wrote it to be honest.

I wrote it for anyone who has ever felt unseen, misunderstood, or punished for healing.

If this passage touched you, there is more inside these pages.

And if you see yourself here — know this:

you were never weak, you were surviving.

... Read moreMany people who are seen as the 'strong ones' often carry burdens that go unnoticed. From personal experience, being the reliable person in a group means you become a pillar others lean on, but rarely do they check if you are holding up yourself. This constant pressure to appear composed can lead to invisible exhaustion and emotional strain. In my own life, I realized that strength without support can quickly become a heavy load. I often suppressed my true feelings, afraid to show vulnerability, believing that I had to keep moving no matter how empty I felt inside. This journey taught me that strength is not just about endurance but also about knowing when to ask for help and prioritizing self-care. Books like Strength No One Applauds bring to light the experience of surviving through silence and loyalty, validating those who felt unseen or misunderstood. Recognizing emotional labor and stress absorption that were never supposed to be ours is the first step toward healing. If you relate to being the 'strong one,' remember you’re not alone in this experience, and it is okay to seek relief and support. This kind of strength is worth applauding for its resilience and truth.
