The Bean - cloud gate 🤍Chicago 🎡🏙️

Cloud Gate By Anish Kapoor

... Read moreOh my goodness, you guys! We just had the most incredible family weekend in Chicago, and I just had to share our experience visiting the iconic Cloud Gate, affectionately known as 'The Bean.' If you're wondering what Chicago is famous for, this stunning reflective sculpture definitely tops the list, especially for tourists looking for unique things to do in Chicago! Our adventure took us right to Millennium Park, where The Bean shines bright. I'd seen pictures, but nothing prepares you for seeing it in person. The way the city skyline, the bright sun, and all the visitors are distorted and reflected in its shiny surface is just mesmerizing. We spent ages walking around it, watching our own reflections change and stretch – it’s like a giant, funhouse mirror, but art! It was so cool to see my baby girl's face light up as she saw her tiny reflection dancing back at her. The OCR mentioned a 'woman holds a baby in front of Chicago's reflective Cloud Gate sculpture,' and that was exactly us, trying to get the perfect family shot! My husband was holding our little one, and we probably took a hundred photos trying to capture all the different angles and distortions. You can even see a baby stroller in the reflection if you look closely – it’s part of the charm! One of my favorite parts was looking up from underneath The Bean; it's like stepping into a whole new world of reflections. It’s truly a unique piece of art that makes you stop and stare. For anyone planning a trip, I'd suggest going either early in the morning or later in the afternoon to catch the best light and maybe avoid some of the heaviest crowds. It gets super busy with 'numerous visitors,' but even with lots of people, there's always a spot to take it all in. Beyond just The Bean itself, Millennium Park is a treasure trove of other attractions. Don't forget to check out the Crown Fountain with its giant spitting faces – another hit with the kids! And if there's a concert, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion is stunning. Visiting Cloud Gate with family was absolutely one of the highlights of our 'Chicago weekend,' creating so many wonderful memories. It’s an absolute must-see if you're looking for things to do in Chicago, whether you're a first-time tourist or just enjoying a local adventure. Honestly, if you're ever in the Windy City, make sure to add this reflective sculpture to your itinerary. You won't regret experiencing its magic!
