Morning Routine as a Neurodiverse Mom of 8 ✨

#lemon8diarychallenge

Hey everyone! 🌸

I wanted to share a bit about my morning routine, which has been a game-changer for me as a Neurodiverse mom of 8; with ADHD, depression, anxiety, CPTSD, PCOS, and fitting much of the criteria for the autism spectrum (deciding if I want the formal diagnosis or not).

As a night owl, mornings used to be a real struggle (complete chaos😵‍💫), but with some changes, I’ve found a routine that works for me and helps me start the day with some confidence. 💕

My Morning Routine:

Alarms: I set alarms for each task to keep me on track.

Wake Up: I start my day at 4:45 AM with my partner. He helps me fully wake up so I can have some time to myself.

Vitamins & Gummies: I take my morning vitamins and mushroom gummies. (These are the holy grail of my ability to not just survive but thrive and I will eventually share more on these.)

Hydration: I drink 2 bottles of water to kickstart my day.

Wake Up Older Kids: At 6:00 AM, I wake up my two kids who go to a charter school.

Meditation: I spend some time meditating to center myself.

Spiritual Studies & Tarot: While the older kids are getting ready, I do my spiritual studies and a tarot card reading to get a sense of the day’s energy. (Expect to see a card of the day or a spread once in a while!)

Wake Up Younger Kids: After my morning routine, my six and seven-year-olds wake up, followed by my baby, my toddler, preschooler, and then my 16-year-old, who are all homeschooled. Then the day really begins!

As a homeschooling mom, having this routine helps me stay grounded and ready to tackle the day. It’s not always perfect, but it’s a start, and it’s made a huge difference in my life. 🌟

Tips for Other Neurodiverse Moms:

Set Alarms: Use alarms to keep you on track throughout the day.

Hydrate: Start your day with plenty of water to boost your energy.

Prioritize Self-Care: Make time for meditation or any activity that centers you.

Organize Tasks: Break down tasks into smaller steps and set reminders.

Ask for Help: Don’t hesitate to ask your partner or older kids for help with morning routines.

Create a Wellness Routine: Incorporate vitamins, healthy snacks, and regular breaks into your day.

Stay Flexible: Be prepared to adjust your routine as needed.

I’d love to hear from you all! What does your morning routine look like? Are you a night owl like me? Do you struggle with creating a routine, especially if you have ADHD or other challenges? Share your schedules and tips below! 💬

... Read moreMornings can be especially challenging for neurodiverse individuals, particularly for those managing ADHD, anxiety, or depression. Establishing a mindful morning routine can significantly improve daily productivity and emotional well-being. Here are some effective strategies: 1. **Mindfulness Practices**: Integrate mindfulness techniques into your routine. Practicing meditation, even for a few minutes, can enhance your mental clarity and emotional stability. 2. **Visual Schedules**: Consider creating a visual schedule for your morning tasks. This can help keep you organized and reduce feelings of overwhelm. 3. **Routine Flexibility**: While consistency is key, remaining adaptable is equally important. Allow yourself the flexibility to change up parts of your routine when needed to prevent burnout. 4. **Healthy Nutrition**: Fueling your body with nutritious foods can have a profound impact on your energy levels and mental health. Consider quick, healthy breakfast options that are easy to prepare. 5. **Community Support**: Joining online groups or forums can provide additional support and exchange of ideas from other neurodiverse moms. Sharing experiences and solutions fosters community and encouragement. Creating a supportive morning routine is a personal journey, uniquely tailored to fit your lifestyle and challenges. Celebrating small victories in your routine can lead to bigger achievements throughout the day.
