Radiology Major

... Read moreStarting a Radiology major can be both exciting and challenging. As someone who has recently begun this path, I found that having a strong foundation in Biology is incredibly helpful since much of Radiology revolves around understanding human anatomy and physiological processes. One thing that surprised me was how important practical skills and labs are, beyond just theoretical knowledge. For example, learning about the physics of imaging and the properties of matter—like the concept of surface tension in fluids—can deepen your understanding of how imaging technologies work, such as MRI or ultrasound. This interdisciplinary approach really enriches the study experience. In addition to coursework, time management is crucial. Balancing intense science classes like Biology with new Radiology-specific studies requires discipline. Joining study groups or forums can be a great way to stay motivated and clarify difficult concepts. Finally, considering the career prospects is motivating. Radiology offers diverse opportunities, from clinical work to research and technology development. For anyone starting this major, I recommend embracing both the scientific and technical aspects enthusiastically—it’s a rewarding field with a real impact on patient care.
