The Ordinary for my skincare routine

I’m just a mom who struggled with Rosacea & dry sensitive skin. I finally found a skin care line that didn’t break my bank. The Ordinary Line of skin care works so well on my skin. I have Rosacea and it has helped so much in decreasing the redness & fine lines. It’s improved my skin texture, dark spots, and has increased my skins moisture. I tend to have pretty dry skin, and this brand works so well on my skin. I highly recommend it!

🛍Brand:The Ordinary💰Price: more affordable I have found that actually works ⭐️Overall rating: 5/5

... Read moreIt truly makes such a difference to find skincare that works, especially when you're dealing with something as persistent as rosacea and sensitive skin. After my initial excitement about The Ordinary, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into which products really made a difference for me and why. I know so many of you are looking for solutions for redness and dryness, and I hope my experience can guide you! First off, for calming redness and strengthening the skin barrier, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% became my absolute hero. I noticed a visible reduction in flushing and overall irritation after just a few weeks of consistent use. Niacinamide is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, and the zinc helps to curb any excess oil, which can sometimes exacerbate redness. It’s a fantastic all-rounder for sensitive, rosacea-prone skin, and it’s surprisingly affordable. Another game-changer for my rosacea was The Ordinary’s Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%. This one is brilliant for evening out skin tone and reducing bumps often associated with rosacea. It has a gentle exfoliating action and powerful antioxidant benefits without being harsh. I use it at night, and it really helps to keep my complexion looking smoother and less inflamed. If you're struggling with persistent redness or a textured appearance, this is definitely one to consider. For combating my persistent dryness, which is a common companion to rosacea, I found two products essential. The Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum is a hydration powerhouse. I apply it to damp skin, and it just plumps up my skin, making it feel so much more comfortable and less tight. Following that up with the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, which is a simple, no-fuss moisturizer, sealed in all that goodness. This combination kept my skin barrier happy and healthy, which is crucial for managing rosacea. Now, let's talk about something I saw in some of your questions: Glycolic Acid. When I started my journey, I was really cautious about strong exfoliants because of my rosacea. While The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution is incredibly popular, I personally found it a bit too strong for my sensitive, rosacea-prone skin. Many dermatologists advise caution with AHAs like Glycolic Acid for rosacea as they can sometimes trigger flare-ups or increase sensitivity. If you have rosacea, especially if it's mild, and you're considering exfoliation, I'd suggest opting for gentler alternatives like Azelaic Acid or even Mandelic Acid, and always, always patch test first! It's better to be safe than sorry when your skin barrier is compromised. Regarding cleansers, I learned that gentleness is key. While The Ordinary does have cleansers, I found that sticking to a very mild, non-foaming cleanser that doesn't strip my skin was crucial to prevent sun-related redness and irritation. An oil-based cleanser can be a great first step to remove makeup and sunscreen without causing further sensitivity. Here’s a simplified routine that worked wonders for me: Morning: Gentle cleanser, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, and always a broad-spectrum SPF. Sun protection is non-negotiable for rosacea! Evening: Gentle cleanser, Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% (on alternate nights or as needed), Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. Remember, everyone's skin is unique, especially with rosacea. What worked for me might need slight adjustments for you. The beauty of The Ordinary is how affordable it is, allowing you to experiment a bit without a huge investment. Just introduce new products slowly and pay close attention to how your skin reacts. I truly hope this helps you on your journey to calmer, happier skin!

I just got the glycolic toner. How do you use it and at what step in your routine? I'm hoping it will help my uneven skin tone.
