SOCIAL MEDIA: Everyone’s just thriving here

One thing you will get to learn about social media is that everyone is either living their best life or some are just watching series of podcasts to keep their mental health in check, with absolutely no in-between.

We all wake up glowing, (being ashy on here is never an option) looking “peng” is a must… houses are always clean, and everything looks perfect. Meanwhile, someone is out there on her couch scrolling through while in her pajamas, wondering how someone managed to film, edit, and caption a perfect moment before breakfast. And boom! She gets a lightbulb moment! “Oh! I wanna do that too. I think I can be a content creator too.” And that’s how her journey begins.

Social media has its own language and timing. Post at the wrong hour? Invisible! Forget a hashtag? Tragic! Use the wrong emoji? Suddenly you’re “out of touch.” And nothing humbles you faster than putting real effort into a post just for it to be liked by your best friend, your aunt, and one stranger named “user847392.” But our new content creator is yet to find out. I pray she reads this.

And one thing you should know about social media is that comparison is the fastest way to ruin a good day because behind every polished post is a human who also has bad angles, messy thoughts, and unfinished laundry. I have survived so many bad hair days (in fact, I’m still surviving one right now) but I’m still here standing tall. (I know I’m short… a reminder isn’t needed 🤣) Thankful for my wigs and hats. But will I post pictures of me with unkempt crazy hair? Nope! Only if it’s a makeover transition video. 🤭🤣

I’m I gonna post pictures I’m only comfortable posting? Absolutely YES!

Once you remember that, scrolling becomes less about measuring your life and more about laughing, learning, and sometimes logging off for your own peace. I’ll write something about this but on another day.

Meanwhile, I’m just laying here on my couch chilling and occasionally looking out my window to see if the storm has already started. When did they say it was going to start again?

Have an amazing weekend and be safe out there.

... Read moreFrom my personal experience diving into social media, I've realized that the pressure to appear flawless can be overwhelming. Like many, I started scrolling through endless feeds, feeling discouraged when my own posts didn’t get much attention or engagement. But over time, I learned to embrace imperfections rather than hide them—sometimes sharing unfiltered moments like a messy desk or a bad hair day (if only subtly). This shift not only eased my stress but attracted followers who appreciated authenticity. Timing and knowing your audience are key, as the original article mentions. Posting when your followers are active and using relevant hashtags can dramatically boost your content’s reach. Yet don’t get too caught up in the analytics—sometimes, the best connections happen organically when you share something meaningful. Also, I’ve found that engaging genuinely with others’ posts often encourages reciprocal interactions, making social media feel less like a competition and more like a community. Comparison truly is the thief of joy on these platforms. Remembering that every polished picture hides a real person with ups and downs helps keep perspective. I often remind myself that scrolling is a choice and learning to log off and focus on offline life restores balance and mental health. Lastly, for those starting their content creation journey, be patient and consistent. It takes time to find your voice and audience without losing your authenticity. Celebrate small wins, and don’t fear experimenting with different types of posts and styles until you discover what resonates most with you and your community. In summary, social media can be enjoyable and enriching if approached with honesty, strategic timing, and mindful engagement. It's about connecting, learning, and sometimes taking breaks, rather than merely showcasing a perfect life.
