Something that you learned needed to be cleaned

As we wrap up the year, I have a very specific question. What is one thing you were never told needed to be cleaned, but later found out absolutely does? Things like washing machines, dishwashers, inside trash cans, refrigerator coils, or air filters. No one really teaches this stuff and somehow we are expected to just know. I am trying to be more intentional about maintaining our home without making it overwhelming, and I would love to learn from what surprised you.

... Read moreWhen it comes to cleaning our homes, many of us focus on the obvious areas like floors, countertops, and bathrooms. However, there are some household items that rarely get the attention they deserve but play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy and efficient living environment. For example, washing machines are often taken for granted, yet they accumulate residue, detergent buildup, and even bacteria over time. Using cleaning tablets specifically formulated for all active washing machines can deeply clean, deodorize, and refresh your appliance, prolonging its lifespan and ensuring your clothes come out spotless. Another commonly overlooked area is the refrigerator coils. These coils collect dust and debris, which forces your appliance to work harder, increasing energy consumption and the risk of malfunction. Cleaning the coils every six months can improve efficiency and save on electricity bills. Air filters in heating and cooling systems are also critical. Dirty filters reduce air quality, strain the system, and can exacerbate allergies or respiratory issues. Regularly checking and replacing filters helps keep the air fresh and your HVAC system running smoothly. Even inside trash cans, bacteria and odors accumulate quickly if not cleaned regularly. Wiping them down and sanitizing can prevent unpleasant smells and improve kitchen hygiene. By being intentional about cleaning these less obvious areas, you not only maintain a more pleasant living space but also avoid costly repairs and health issues. Incorporating these tips into your cleaning routine can be simple and manageable, especially when done gradually. Share your experiences with unexpected cleaning discoveries to learn together what else might be living unseen in our homes!

6 Laundry Rules I Learned the Hard Way 🧺
I’ll never forget the day I ruined my favorite beige knit set. I threw it in with a load of towels, used hot water, and added way too much detergent because I thought it would make everything “extra clean.” When I pulled it out, it was stiff, pilled, and two sizes smaller. I genuinely sat there sta

What I’ve learned in my 40s
My 40s have been full of lessons I didn’t know I needed. Lessons in slowing down. In softening. In starting over without shame. In trusting God—even when the timeline didn’t make sense. I’ve had to unlearn a lot. Unlearn who I thought I had to be. Unlearn the idea that healing should be quick and
