I still wake up most days and go to call my Dad. 2 years ago today since my family lost our foundation…and it still feels like a few days ago. Grieving is the toughest rollercoaster I’ve ever been on, but I’m choosing to celebrate and honor him today🙌🏽I love You Big Dawg✨💪🏽
Shoutout to everyone dealing with loss and feeling like no one ever understands how much you’re going through inside✨🙏🏽
Losing a loved one, especially a parent, transforms your life in ways that words often can’t capture. Each day brings a new wave of emotions—a mixture of sorrow, memories, and moments of gratitude. What has helped me most through this ongoing journey is allowing myself to feel every emotion without judgment, knowing that grief is not linear but a complex mix of ups and downs. One thing I’ve learned is the importance of celebrating the unique qualities our loved ones passed on to us. I often think about how much I resemble my dad physically and in spirit—from my height and muscle build to my facial structure—and how those parts of him live on in me. These reflections, though bittersweet, help me stay connected to him. It’s also been empowering to embrace authenticity and self-acceptance, lessons my dad taught me. Whether it’s about identity, personal values, or simply being true to yourself, honoring his memory means living fully and confidently. For anyone who feels isolated in their grief, know that you’re not alone. Sharing your feelings with others who understand or even simply acknowledging your pain can be healing steps. In my experience, grief invites us to be patient with ourselves, to celebrate the legacy of those we’ve lost, and to find strength in vulnerability. I hope that by opening up about my journey, others will feel a little less alone and inspired to honor their own loved ones in their unique ways.
