Tips to prevent UTIs: my healthy habits

2024/10/10 Edited to

... Read moreUrinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common issue, particularly among women. To help maintain urinary health, it's essential to practice good hygiene and stay hydrated. One of my top tips is to always wipe from front to back to minimize the risk of bacteria from the anal area reaching the urethra. Staying hydrated, ideally consuming 6-8 glasses of water a day, helps in flushing out bacteria effectively. It's also crucial not to hold in your urine; try to urinate every 3 to 4 hours and ensure you fully empty your bladder to prevent bacterial growth. After intimacy, make sure to urinate, as this can help flush out any bacteria that might have been introduced. Additionally, avoid using scented products in the genital area, as these can disrupt the natural pH balance and lead to infections. Finally, consider incorporating cranberries into your diet, as they contain compounds that can prevent E. coli from adhering to the urinary tract lining. By following these steps, you can enhance your urinary health and reduce the chances of UTIs effectively.
