Drive In Movie 📸

Have you ever been to a drive in movie? I never have until I moved to Oklahoma! It’s so awesome I don’t think I’ll ever really go to a theatre again. They have a radio station you tune into and you can bring your own drinks and snacks. You can bring other things as well (like gas or drinks) but be responsible lol!

They show two movies! And there’s two sides. So a total of 4 movies. These clips are showing previews. But we saw Despicable Me 4 & Inside Out 2.

I believe the other side was showing Twister and idk the other movie!

I also went before and saw the new Bad Boys! I really love the drive in movies! 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Since I mentioned how much I love it, I wanted to share some practical tips I've learned to make your drive-in experience truly 10/10, especially when it comes to your car setup and enjoying the whole night scene. First off, your car setup is key to comfort. Imagine settling in for two movies – you want to be cozy! If you have an SUV or a hatchback, this is your moment to shine. Fold down those back seats, toss in an air mattress or a thick futon, and load up with pillows and blankets. It turns your car into a private, mobile living room. If you’re in a sedan, bring extra cushions for the seats, or even some comfy folding chairs to set up outside your car right in front of the large outdoor drive-in movie screen, if allowed. Just make sure you have a good view and aren't blocking anyone! Don't forget bug spray, especially if you plan to sit outside – learned that the hard way! Next, let's talk about snacks and drinks. This is where drive-ins really beat traditional theaters. You can bring literally anything you want! I usually pack a cooler full of my favorite sodas, water, and even some homemade sandwiches or wraps. For snacks, think beyond the usual popcorn (though that's a must-have, too!). Bring candy, chips, fruit, and maybe even some hot cocoa in a thermos if it's a chilly evening. Being able to munch on exactly what you crave without paying cinema prices is such a win. Just remember to bring a trash bag to keep your area tidy. The sound is another crucial element. You'll tune into a specific FM radio station on your car's stereo for the movie audio. Make sure your car battery is in good shape, or better yet, bring a small portable battery-powered radio. My friend's car battery died once because we forgot to turn the car off completely but kept the radio on for hours – thankfully, the staff usually has jumper cables! Always check your car’s manual on how to keep accessories on without fully running the engine. Choosing your parking spot in the rows of cars can also impact your experience. Arrive early to snag a good spot. I've found that being too close can make the screen feel overwhelming, and too far back can make it hard to see details, especially if you're watching a bright animated scene. A good rule of thumb is to look for a spot that gives you a clear line of sight to the outdoor screen without too many obstructions from other parked cars. Sometimes, the ground is sloped, which helps. Finally, embrace the entire drive-in cinema night experience. It’s not just about the movie; it's about the unique atmosphere. Watching a film under the stars, surrounded by other cars, with that classic radio static hum before the movie starts – it's truly nostalgic. It's a perfect blend of privacy and community. Remember to be mindful of your headlights when arriving or leaving, and keep your car lights off during the film so everyone can enjoy the large outdoor drive-in movie screen. This setup creates memories you won't get anywhere else. I absolutely recommend it for a fun, unique night out!
