Don’t get comfortable with lies
Lies can kill you. Many Christians want to hear from the gentle Jesus and we forget that He is not just the Lam, but the Lion of Judah.
We want friends and family to be gentle with us, but if I was in danger I don’t want you to be gentle. Snatch me up quick to save my life.
Stop being offended when people need to deliver truth to you and it needs to be delivered stern so you get it!
Get comfortable being uncomfortable with the truth and the delivery of it especially if it is going to save your life. Spiritually and naturally.
John 8:32 ESV
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Proverbs 12:22 ESV
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
Colossians 3:9 ESV
Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me
In daily life, lies can feel like a comforting escape from harsh realities, but as the saying goes, "Don't find comfort in lies," because lies—whether subtle or blatant—can be destructive to both our spiritual and natural well-being. The message reminds us that while many seek the gentle, comforting image of Jesus as the Lamb, they often forget His strength as the Lion of Judah, capable of bold truth and fierce protection. When someone cares about us, delivering truth—especially stern or uncomfortable truth—is an act of love that can save us from spiritual and moral danger. Spiritual growth often requires the humility to face painful realities instead of clinging to comforting falsehoods. Just as we would expect swift action in physical danger, we should welcome honest, sometimes firm guidance in spiritual matters to protect and save our souls. Biblical teachings emphasize the importance of honesty and truthfulness. Verses like John 8:32, "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free," highlight the freedom and salvation that come from embracing truth. Proverbs 12:22 calls lying lips an abomination to the Lord, contrasting them with those who act faithfully as His delight, reinforcing the deep spiritual consequences of dishonesty. Living without lies means putting off the old self and rejecting its deceitful ways, as advised in Colossians 3:9. Jesus identified Himself as "the way, and the truth, and the life" (John 14:6), offering a clear path away from falsehood and towards eternal life. It's vital to become comfortable with being uncomfortable—to accept truth even when it challenges our cherished beliefs or feelings. This discomfort is a necessary step toward personal and spiritual freedom. Lies may offer ease, but they ultimately lead to destruction, as sin that can kill. Embracing truth, even when sternly delivered, aligns us more closely with God's will and protects us from the harm that comes from self-deception or ignoring reality. In practice, this means learning to respond gratefully to honest counsel and correction, even from friends and family, seeing it as a life-saving intervention rather than a personal attack. In doing so, we nurture a community rooted in faithfulness and truth, fostering spiritual growth and genuine freedom for ourselves and those around us.
