❄️January Reads📚

while this is has mostly been my nail page to share my work as a nail tech, I also wanted to start sharing another one of my favorite things … Reading! 📚

these are my January Reads 🤓

1. If You Tell by Gregg Olsen - this book is HEAVY! Story is based on a true crime case centered around three sisters and their abusive mother.

2. The Trap by Catherine Ryan Howard - this story follows a girl named Lucy who is consumed with finding out what happened to her sister, Nikki who disappeared. Desperate for answers, Lucy will go to extreme measure to try to find out what happened to her sister.

3. Where the Blame Lies by Mia Sheridan - this story centers around a girl named Josie who was held captive for ten months. Eight years after she escapes her abductor, a new investigation is opened to look into the murders of missing women who are found in a similar way to Josie’s case. Is this the work of a copy cat or is there a sinister connection between the abductions?

4. That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally - Story follows two characters. First character wakes up injured alongside an empty road not knowing who she is or how she got there. POV number two is a guy named Drew whose girlfriend is missing and police think he's their prime suspect. The plot unfolds as you try to figure out how their stories are connected.

5. Dark Matter by Blake Crouch - I'm normally not a big sci-fi person but the premise of this book sounded really interesting. The story follows a college professor named Jason Dessen. One night after going out to celebrate a friend, he is kidnapped. When he wakes up, Jason discovers he's no longer in his world. And there begins Jason's journey as he finds his way back to his wife and their son.

6. Never Lie by Frieda McFadden - Story follows two characters; one is a girl named Tricia who is viewing a house in the middle of nowhere with her new husband. Creepy shit ensues after they're trapped in the isolated home due to a snowstorm. Second POV is a therapist named Dr. Adrienne Hale, who was the previous owner of the house and is presumed dead after she disappeared. I genuinely thought I knew how the two POVs would connect but damn, I was way off!

7. They Never Learn by Layne Fargo - Story follows a woman named Scarlett; a professor by day, vigilante by night. She goes after men who have gotten away with the bad things they've done, to make them pay. If you liked the movie "Promising Young Woman", this might be a good book for you.

If you’ve made it this far, let me know if you’ve read any of these books and what your thoughts are 😊

Also, if you have any recommendations I always love to check out new books!

... Read moreAs we embrace the New Year, what better way to start than with a fresh reading list? Reading not only provides an escape but also allows us to explore diverse perspectives, engage with powerful themes, and appreciate remarkable storytelling. 1. **If You Tell** by Gregg Olsen delves into a gripping real-life tale of family dynamics intertwined with trauma and resilience. The book captivates readers by portraying the complexity of relationships and the long-lasting impact of abuse. 2. **The Trap** by Catherine Ryan Howard uniquely combines mystery with emotional depth as Lucy's search for her sister leads to startling revelations and twists that keep readers on the edge of their seats. 3. **Where the Blame Lies** by Mia Sheridan presents a haunting narrative of survival and justice. The protagonist's quest taps into themes of victimization and the necessity for closure, making it a compelling read. 4. **That’s Not My Name** by Megan Lally intriguingly intertwines two conflicting narratives, creating suspense and intrigue. Each character’s journey sheds light on identity and accountability. 5. **Dark Matter** by Blake Crouch, a blend of science fiction and suspense, challenges perceptions of reality as the protagonist navigates dimensions in search of what truly matters. This book invites readers to ponder existential questions. 6. **Never Lie** by Frieda McFadden builds tension artfully, presenting a thriller that unfolds in an isolated setting amidst harrowing weather, heightening the emotional stakes of survival. 7. **They Never Learn** by Layne Fargo explores themes of justice and morality, drawing parallels with modern issues of accountability, making it relevant and thought-provoking in today's society. Whether you're in search of heart-pounding thrillers or explorative narratives, these January reads cater to various tastes. Make sure to share your thoughts if you've dived into any of these books or if you have recommendations of your own!
