Phra Pim Phra Phra Phra Chai

A millennial monk with beautiful Buddhist art.

Pim is one of the most ancient and famous terracotta aromas of the Lamphun genus. It has a building life of more than 1,000 years, presumably built in the era of the kingdom of Hirubhajai around the 16th-17th centuries, with evidence of the establishment of Hirubhajai of Cham Devi and a very popular Buddha.

The origin of the name "Pim."

The word "pem" comes from the local language of the north, which means "flat" or "keyboard," which is called after the Buddhist image of the Buddha, which has a wide flat print in the middle, but the edge of the side slopes down, and the whole looks not too round and not too flat, causing the ancients to call it "pem."

Pim is larger and thicker than the Buddha, with a width of about 2.5-3 centimeters and a height of about 4 centimeters.

Phra Pim was discovered in several ancient temples in the Lampoon province area, but the famous Phra Pim is known and found in the largest number.

One, Wat Don Kaew, is an abandoned temple, now the Viang Yong School, where the Phra Pim found in this group has beautiful Buddhist characteristics and a large number.

Don Kaew Temple appears in legend to be the temple that Queen Cham Devi established, called the Treasurer Rumgaram Temple, where important antiquities such as ancient Mon inscriptions, and Hirabhai art sandstone statues were found.

The second, Pathum DJ, or Golden Pagoda, Wat Phra Lun Chai, was first officially opened around the year 1931 by Teacher Ba Dharma Vijaya and re-excavated in the year 1941 by Chao Chak Kam, Prince Lampoon. In those days, some monks were distributed to Thai soldiers in World War II.

Phra Pim is also found from Mahawan Temple and other groups such as Cham Devi Temple, Phra Phra Nam Temple, Phra Phra Nam Temple, Khun Lai, Teacher White, and Phra Phra Hua, but the number of Phra Phra found is less than the first two.
