Phase 1 for Shiny Zapdos

Hey fellow trainers! I just had to share my latest shiny hunting adventure with you all. You know that incredible feeling when a shiny just pops up? Well, it happened to me recently, and I'm still buzzing! I was deep into a 'phase 1' hunt in Pokémon Sword and Shield, exploring the Wild Area, especially around those rainy outdoor environments, hoping to encounter something special. And then, there it was – a gorgeous, shiny purple Quagsire! Seeing its iconic smiling face and that distinct purple hue just made my day. It was literally waving its arm at me in the game, almost like it knew it was meant to be mine! For those new to shiny hunting, 'Phase 1' often refers to the initial stage of a hunt, especially when you're looking for a specific shiny but encounter another shiny Pokémon first. It's a delightful surprise, and sometimes, these 'phase 1' shinies become cherished members of your team. In my case, I wasn't specifically targeting Quagsire, but when this stunning purple one appeared, I knew it was a keeper. Capturing it was such a thrill, and getting to see its animation, like it's happily waving, is just the best. So, how do you even get started with shiny hunting in Pokémon Sword and Shield? There are a few popular methods. The Masuda Method is a fan-favorite for breeding. If you breed two Pokémon from different real-world language games, the odds of hatching a shiny egg significantly increase. It takes a lot of patience, but the payoff is amazing. Another common method, which I was doing when I found my Quagsire, is wild encounter shiny hunting. In Sword and Shield, knocking out or catching the same Pokémon repeatedly can boost your shiny odds. The more you encounter a specific Pokémon, the better your chances. While the odds don't increase indefinitely, reaching a chain of 500 means you get the best possible odds from this method. Don't forget that having the Shiny Charm is invaluable! You get it after completing your Galar Pokédex, and it drastically improves the odds for all shiny hunting methods. It's definitely worth the effort to obtain. My personal tip for anyone struggling with shiny hunting is to focus on enjoying the journey. It can be tedious, but putting on some music or a podcast, and just relaxing into the grind, makes it so much more enjoyable. And when that shiny finally appears, like my lovely purple Quagsire did in that rainy weather, it makes all the effort worthwhile. Don't give up, trainers!
