Lang City Temple
Wat Muang Lang is an old temple in Chiang Mai Province, located in Muang Tan District, Muang Chiang Mai District, characterized by the relics of the pagoda modeled on the Shwedagon Pagoda, Mianma, which is the annual relics of the birth of the year of the mamia (year of the horse) [1, 2].
📜 History and Background
Year of creation: It is estimated that it was built around 2300 by Burmese or Mianmae who moved into this area to settle.
Architecture: Originally influenced by Burmese-Mon art, it is surrounded by stupas and has four ornamental libas. Later, the villagers restored it by putting cement over the original, turning the blend into today's Lanna art. [1, 2]

เมื่อได้ไปเยือนวัดเมืองลังที่เชียงใหม่ ผมรู้สึกได้ถึงความเงียบสงบและมีเอกลักษณ์ทางสถาปัตยกรรมที่ผสมผสานอย่างลงตัวระหว่างศิลปะแบบพม่ากับล้านนา ความประทับใจแรกคือองค์พระธาตุเจดีย์ที่โดดเด่นมาก สีทองอร่ามสะดุดตาและมีความงดงามไม่เหมือนใคร เนื่องจากเป็นการจำลองมาจากเจดีย์ชเวดากองในเมียนมา ซึ่งคนท้องถิ่นและผู้ที่เกิดปีมะเมีย (ปีม้า) เลื่อมใสและนับถือกันอย่างลึกซึ้ง อีกจุดที่ไม่ควรพลาดคือพระวิหารที่ตกแต่งอย่างละเอียดอ่อนด้วยปูนปั้นรูปนารายณ์ทรงครุฑที่หน้าบัน ซึ่งเมื่อได้มองใกล้ๆ จะเห็นความประณีตและงานฝีมือชั้นเลิศของช่างพื้นบ้านตามแบบพม่า-มอญ นอกจากนี้ พระอุโบสถกลางน้ำก็น่าสนใจมาก เพราะสร้างกลางสระน้ำ ทำให้บรรยากาศดูสงบและน่าศรัทธา ส่วนหอไตรสองชั้นก็แสดงถึงความเก่าแก่และความตั้งใจรักษาพระธรรมคำสอนของชาวพุทธ การเดินทางมายังวัดเมืองลังก็สะดวกสบาย เนื่องจากตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำปิงในตำบลป่าตัน ห่างจากถนนใหญ่เพียงเล็กน้อย และสามารถแวะพักทานอาหารที่ร้าน "เฮือนสุนทรี" ที่ตั้งอยู่ใกล้เคียงได้อีกด้วย บรรยากาศโดยรอบวัดยังเต็มไปด้วยความเขียวขจีของธรรมชาติและลำคลอง ผมเชื่อว่าใครที่รักงานศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมล้านนารวมถึงประวัติศาสตร์ชุมชนพม่าในเชียงใหม่จะต้องประทับใจที่นี่แน่นอน ประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวของผมทำให้ผมตระหนักว่าการเข้าใจที่มาของสถาปัตยกรรมและวัตถุโบราณในวัดนี้ช่วยเพิ่มความลึกซึ้งในการเยี่ยมชม และถ้าหากมีโอกาส ผมอยากเล่าเรื่องนี้ให้เพื่อนๆ หรือผู้ที่รักการท่องเที่ยวเชิงวัฒนธรรมฟัง เพราะวัดเมืองลังไม่ใช่แค่สถานที่สักการะอย่างเดียว แต่ยังเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ประวัติศาสตร์ของชุมชนชาวพม่าในเชียงใหม่อีกด้วย
