Are you interviewing with other companies?

Your answer should ALWAYS be yes.

Companies want candidates that other companies also want.

It signals three things:

1. You’re in demand.

→If other employers see value in you, it validates your skills and experience.

2. You’re actively exploring the market.

→It shows you’re intentional, not casually applying without a plan.

3. They may need to move faster.

→If they know you’re interviewing with other companies, it encourages them to stay engaged, communicate more clearly, and reduce delays.

And here’s the part most job seekers don’t realize:

👉 Saying you’re only interviewing with them makes you look less competitive.

It can lower urgency, decrease leverage, and reduce your negotiating power.

So what should you say?

Try this:

“Yes, I’m interviewing with a few other companies, but I’m very interested in this role because of____.”

You’re still showing genuine interest without putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Follow me for more tips to land your dream job and become a unicorn 🦄 candidate every company wants to hire.

... Read moreWhen asked if you are interviewing with other companies, answering yes is a strategic move that can significantly enhance your position in the hiring process. Saying you are interviewing elsewhere signals to potential employers that you are a sought-after candidate with valuable skills and experience. This not only validates your professional credentials but also creates a sense of urgency for the company to move swiftly in their hiring decisions. Employers want candidates who are in demand. If they perceive you as a strong applicant that other employers are interested in, it boosts their confidence in your qualifications and makes your candidacy more attractive. This can increase your leverage during salary negotiations and other employment terms. Moreover, admitting you’re interviewing with other companies demonstrates that you are proactive and intentional in your job search. It shows that you are not casually applying but carefully evaluating opportunities to find the best fit for your career goals. This intentionality suggests you are a serious candidate who knows your worth. From the employer's perspective, knowing that you have other interviews encourages them to maintain clear communication and reduce delays in their hiring process. They understand there’s competition to secure your talent and are less likely to postpone making an offer. This dynamic benefits you by potentially shortening the time to receiving a job offer and improving your chances of landing your dream role. However, it’s important to balance honesty with genuine interest. When you say, “Yes, I’m interviewing with a few other companies, but I’m very interested in this role because of ____,” you convey enthusiasm for the position while still maintaining your competitive edge. This approach reassures the employer of your commitment without weakening your negotiation stance. To sum up, always say yes to interviews with other companies because it signals demand, intentionality, and can accelerate the hiring process. Use this tactic wisely to improve your job search outcomes and present yourself as a coveted candidate in the competitive job market.
