LAST FOOTBALL GAME

It's hard to believe it's over. My last college football game as a senior. The air was thick with a mix of anticipation and melancholy, a real 'last sunset' feeling for this chapter of my life. Even though the sign outside proudly declared, "ITS A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR FOOTBALL," the reality was a bit different – a cloudy, wet day, but nothing could dampen our spirits or the energy of the crowd. Walking through the wet parking lot, past the buses and golf carts, towards the brightly lit stadium light pole, every moment felt amplified. I remember bundling up in my grey jacket and beanie, the "SENIOR 2025" sash feeling heavy with meaning. Despite the cold and rainy weather, the roar of the crowd, the energy on the field – it all felt so familiar, so much a part of me. I really started reflecting on all the years I've spent cheering, the friendships made, and the countless memories. Cheerleading through college football seasons has been an incredible journey. From freshman year jitters to leading cheers as a senior, every game, every practice, every road trip holds a special place. It’s more than just pom-poms and chants; it’s about teamwork, dedication, and being the ultimate hype squad for our team. These "football transitions" from season to season, from triumphs to heartbreaks, have shaped me in so many ways. Saying "farewell" to this part of my life, the roaring crowds and crisp autumn air, is truly tough. But as one door closes, another opens. I'm officially transitioning to basketball season now, and while my heart feels a pang of nostalgia for the football fields, there's also an excitement for what's next. The energy of an indoor court, the fast pace of basketball – it's a different kind of thrill. I'm ready to bring that senior spirit and cheer leadership to the next level, and embrace the new challenges and joys that come with it. Even the ride home felt different – quieter, reflective. I didn't get many pictures during the game itself, but I did snag a selfie in the car with my post-game "suckers after" lollipops. Those little moments, the shared treats, the quiet reflections after a big game, are just as important as the big cheers and the stadium lights. They're the personal takeaways from these incredible years. I'm so grateful for every memory, every friend, every lesson learned on those football fields. This "latest" chapter might be closing, but the spirit of a cheerleader, the resilience, and the joy will definitely carry on.
