Plant Favs for June 🪴

2024/6/13 Edited to

... Read moreOh my goodness, June has truly transformed my garden into a vibrant oasis! I'm so excited to share what's really shining this month, and trust me, these plants are bringing so much joy. If you're looking for some new additions that genuinely make a statement, you've got to hear about my current obsessions. First up, let's talk about the incredible Sophia Pumpkins! I've been growing these 'Tailblazer' variety pumpkins, and they are just fantastic. They’ve been growing so vigorously, and I’m already seeing so many promising little fruits forming. What I love most about them is their resilience; they seem to shrug off pests and diseases that bother some of my other plants. Last year, my 'Sophia Pumpkins' yielded some of the most delicious, sweet pumpkins I've ever tasted – perfect for pies or just roasting with a little honey. If you have the space, I highly recommend giving this variety a try. They’re not just productive, but the vines themselves have such lush, deep green leaves that add a beautiful texture to the garden. Then there’s the breathtaking Sunny Martinique Oriental Lily. Every time I step into the garden, its sweet, intoxicating fragrance just wafts through the air, instantly lifting my spirits. The blooms are absolutely massive and boast these stunning shades of sunny yellow with delicate flecks of orange and red. I planted mine in a spot where they get morning sun and afternoon shade, and they're just thriving. They do need a bit of support as they get quite tall, but a simple stake does the trick. If you want a showstopper that also perfumes your entire yard, this lily is an absolute must-have. It truly feels like a tropical escape right here at home. For a splash of continuous color without relying on flowers, my Trailblazer Coleus has been an absolute superstar. I've got a few different varieties, and the 'Trailblazer' series really lives up to its name with its bold, striking foliage patterns. Mine are a mix of deep burgundy, bright lime green, and fiery orange, creating an incredible focal point in my container arrangements and even tucked into shaded garden beds. They are incredibly easy to grow from cuttings, so I often propagate them to fill in any gaps. They're low-maintenance and just keep looking fantastic all season long, even in the heat. It’s perfect for adding that 'wow' factor with minimal effort! And finally, for a touch of elegance and heavenly scent, I'm absolutely smitten with my Gardenia Radicans. This dwarf gardenia is just perfect for smaller spaces or as a fragrant groundcover. Its glossy, dark green leaves provide a beautiful backdrop for the pristine white, intensely fragrant blossoms that have started to pop open this month. I've got mine in a terracotta pot by my patio door, so every time I walk by, I get a delightful whiff of that classic gardenia scent. They do appreciate a bit of acidic soil and consistent moisture, but the effort is so worth it for those unforgettable blooms. It’s like having a luxurious perfume bottle open in the garden! These are just a few of the plants making my June garden dreams come true. I hope my experiences inspire you to try some of these beauties in your own space. Happy gardening, everyone!
