WATCH LIST: kid’s shows ✅
hello ◡̈
There’s some pretty controversial opinions about screen time for kids. But I’ll be honest, I utilize screen time on occasion. I simply don’t find any harm in it especially if the content is educational and isn’t teaching any poor behaviors. In fact, my son has learned so much from resources like Super Simple Songs and Octonauts.
These are the shows we watch:
✅ Puffin Rock (our favorite)
✅ Trash Truck
✅ Octonauts
✅ Handy Manny
✅ Little Einsteins
✅ Bluey
✅ Super Simple Songs
✅ Animal Documentaries
And on occasion these are our favorite movies:
✅ Moana (my sons favorite)
✅ Frozen
✅ Luca
✅ The Lion King
✅ Brave
✅ Tangled
I do believe that not everything in life needs to be some sort of learning experience which is why I love to just put on an enjoyable movie every once in awhile.
If I ever notice that a show or movie we’re watching has inappropriate scenes or bad behaviors that I don’t feel like my children should be watching then they make their way onto our no watch list.

Navigating screen time for kids can be a challenge for parents, especially with the multitude of content available today. The shows that have made it onto our watch list have been selected not just for their fun factors, but for their educational value as well. For example, shows like 'Octonauts' and 'Puffin Rock' not only engage children with entertaining stories and vibrant animation but also incorporate learning elements about marine life and nature. Similarly, educational tunes from 'Super Simple Songs' can help younger viewers with language development while still providing a fun viewing experience. Movies also play a significant role in family screen time. Favorites like 'Moana' and 'The Lion King' offer not only rich narratives but also themes of resilience, friendship, and cultural appreciation that resonate with both kids and adults alike. Thus, choosing the right shows and movies is about striking a balance between enjoyment and learning. It is important for parents to be vigilant and screen the content that children consume to avoid inappropriate scenes or lessons that contradict family values. A good reference point would be to periodically review the shows and implement a 'no-watch' list for anything deemed unsuitable. In this way, our watch list remains a tool for the family to enjoy time together while fostering a positive learning environment through ethical and constructive media.
