Aruba is such a kind little island. The locals are so sweet and I was surprised to know how crime free it is.
Honestly I was expecting a lot more greenery like other islands but I learned that Aruba doesn’t get much rain, it’s more like a desert.
My favorite part was the beach. We went to eagle beach and the water was so tranquil. I can honestly live in it lol. I definitely have to go back to Aruba to fully experience the culture.
Aruba truly lives up to its nickname, “One Happy Island.” My first visit, though brief, left such a strong impression! Beyond the stunning beaches, there’s a unique charm that makes you want to explore more. When people ask, “what is Aruba?” I can now confidently say it's a vibrant, safe island with a distinct desert landscape that surprisingly adds to its beauty. While my initial visit highlighted the incredible tranquility of Eagle Beach, a definite must-see for any visitor, Aruba offers so much more. If you're looking for other amazing Aruba tourist attractions, consider Palm Beach, which is a bit more lively with resorts and watersports. For families or those seeking very calm, shallow waters, Baby Beach on the southern tip is perfect for snorkeling in a safe lagoon environment. One of the most unique things to do in Aruba is to explore the rugged beauty of Arikok National Park. Unlike the lush greenery of some Caribbean islands, Aruba's interior is a fascinating desert landscape, home to cacti, divi-divi trees, and unique rock formations. You can find hidden caves, natural pools, and dramatic coastlines there. It really shows a different side to the island than just the typical beach scene. For a beautiful panoramic view, a drive up to the California Lighthouse is also a wonderful idea, especially around sunset. For those like me who might only have a limited time, perhaps just 6 hours in Aruba during a cruise stop, prioritizing your experience is key. I'd recommend soaking up the sun and calm waters at Eagle Beach, then perhaps a quick stroll through Oranjestad, the colorful capital. Its Dutch colonial architecture and waterfront promenade offer a taste of local life and some unique shopping opportunities. You can easily find some charming souvenirs or enjoy a quick local snack like a pastechi. The sense of safety and the genuine friendliness of the locals really stood out, making the entire experience incredibly pleasant. It's truly a place where you can relax and feel at ease. My short encounter has definitely made me eager to return and fully immerse myself in all the culture and natural wonders this beautiful island has to offer. Aruba isn't just about the beaches; it's about the unique blend of natural beauty, warm hospitality, and a surprisingly diverse range of activities that cater to every kind of traveler.
