Aruba 🌸🌸🌸
When I first heard "this girl is going to Aruba," I literally squealed with excitement! Now that I'm back from the 'One Happy Island,' I'm overflowing with tips to help you plan your own unforgettable getaway. Trust me, a little planning goes a long way to making your vacation truly stress-free and amazing! First things first: when to visit? Aruba enjoys fantastic weather year-round, but I found that visiting in late spring (April-May) was absolutely perfect. The temperatures were consistently warm, the sun was shining, and it felt a little less crowded than peak season. Plus, Aruba is outside the hurricane belt, so you don't have to worry about those pesky storms. Getting around the island is super easy. While taxis are readily available, I highly recommend renting a car for at least a few days. It gave me the freedom to explore hidden beaches, discover local eateries, and venture into Arikok National Park at my own pace. Driving is on the right side of the road, just like in the US, which makes it even easier. If you're staying near the main hotel strip, you can also rely on public buses or even walk to many spots. Now, for the fun part: what to do! You absolutely must visit Eagle Beach – those iconic Fofoti trees are even more stunning in person, and the sand is like powder. Palm Beach is great for watersports and has a vibrant atmosphere. For an adventure, head to Arikok National Park to see the rugged coastline, natural bridges (some are collapsed, but still worth seeing!), and hidden caves. Don't miss Mangel Halto for incredible snorkeling in calm, clear waters. I also loved taking a sunset catamaran cruise; the views were breathtaking and it was such a relaxing way to end the day. Since we're talking #vacayclothes and #vacationaccessories, let's get specific! Beyond your essentials like swimsuits, sundresses, and comfortable sandals, here are a few things I found indispensable: reef-safe sunscreen is a non-negotiable to protect both your skin and Aruba's beautiful coral. A wide-brimmed hat and good quality sunglasses will be your best friends under the strong Aruban sun. I also packed a lightweight, quick-drying sarong that served as a beach cover-up, a towel, and even a scarf for cooler evenings. And, seriously, bring a reusable water bottle! Aruba's tap water is perfectly safe and delicious to drink, so you can refill it often and stay hydrated while cutting down on plastic waste. When it comes to food, prepare for a treat! Aruba has a fantastic culinary scene. Definitely try some fresh seafood – the local catch of the day is always a winner. Seek out authentic Aruban dishes like Keshi Yena (a delicious stuffed cheese dish) or a Pastechi (a savory fried pastry, perfect for breakfast or a snack). For a refreshing drink, grab a local Balashi beer. And don't forget to ask locals for their favorite spots – that's how I found some of the best hidden gems! Finally, a few general Aruba vacation tips: everyone speaks English, along with Dutch and Papiamento, so communication is never an issue. While the local currency is the Aruban Florin, US dollars are widely accepted everywhere, often making it easier to pay. Always carry some small bills for tips. Remember to embrace the 'One Happy Island' vibe – the people are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which truly adds to the magic of the place. I hope these tips help you plan your own incredible Aruban adventure!
