... Read moreLiving as an autistic person brings a rich blend of experiences that shape daily life in unique ways. For me, one of the most impactful aspects is my intrinsic need to move and engage physically with my surroundings — whether that’s through dancing or stimming, it helps me stay grounded and manage sensory input. This kind of movement isn’t just a habit; it’s a vital part of how I process the world. Another deeply personal layer of my autism is my preference for the color blue, which comforts me and expresses a piece of my identity. Wearing blue clothing, like a blue hoodie or a cherished Cinnamoroll T-shirt, isn’t just about style — it has a soothing effect and connects me emotionally to my environment. Collecting items, from plushies to thrifted clothes and sometimes electronics, is more than a hobby — it’s an expression of focus and joy. I find excitement in hunting for new things, and this collecting tendency is closely tied to my autism, reflecting how I channel my energy and creativity. However, I am also mindful of balancing this passion with practical needs like saving money. Sharing these experiences on World Autism Awareness Day feels important because it shines a light on the personal, varied ways autism manifests itself. Everyone’s autism journey is different, and hearing authentic stories fosters understanding and acceptance. Whether it’s through stimming, color preferences, or collecting, embracing these traits leads to greater self-acceptance and connects us to a community celebrating neurodiversity.
