This is so dumb
My friends were hyping this Bali trip, everyone was booking flights and I refused to be the one left out. But I had basically no savings. And I lied to myself: “Just put it on the card, pay it off slow.”
At first, sunsets over the ocean, fancy dinners, poolside cocktails. I swiped that card like it wasn’t even mine then I got home. Reality smacked me: flight, hotel, meals, even stupid little souvenirs added up to nearly $3k. I tried chipping away at it, but interest kept stacking. Every payment felt useless because the balance barely budged. Months later, I’m still paying for a trip that stopped feeling worth it the second I saw that bill.
Worst part was that I started bailing on friend plans just to save cash. That one trip ruined my budget for the whole year. Credit cards aren’t free money, they’re just stress you’ll pay for later.
Have any of you ever messed up your finances for FOMO?
