productive things to do on low energy days

If you’re having a low energy day but you still want to be productive, this post is for you. Here are three things that you can do on a low energy day to make yourself feel better:

1. Plan out your outfits for the week. This will save you so much time in the morning and your future self will thank you.

2. Have a self care reset day. If you are feeling really tired, a low-energy self-care day is the perfect solution. You can do a face mask, take a shower, or do a hair mask.

3. Start journaling. Try buying a guided journal to help motivate you to journal.

... Read moreWe all have those days when our energy levels hit rock bottom, making even simple tasks feel monumental. For a long time, I used to beat myself up for not being 'productive' on these days, but I've learned that productivity isn't always about grand gestures. Sometimes, it's about doing small, manageable things that make a big difference to your future self or your peace of mind. One of my absolute favorite low-energy hacks, as mentioned, is planning my outfits for the week. Trust me, this is a game-changer! Instead of staring blankly at my closet each morning, wasting precious mental energy, I spend a relaxed Sunday afternoon (or even just 15 minutes) mixing and matching. I might even snap a few photos on my phone to remember the combinations. This not only saves me time but also reduces decision fatigue. Plus, seeing my clothes neatly laid out gives me a little burst of satisfaction without requiring much physical exertion. It's a small win that sets a positive tone for the week. Beyond outfit planning, I've really leaned into self-care resets that nurture my body and mind without demanding much from me. On particularly sluggish days, a warm bath infused with Epsom salts and essential oils feels incredibly restorative. I'll put on a face mask – a quick and easy way to pamper myself – and just relax, perhaps listening to a calming podcast or some instrumental music. It's not about an elaborate spa day, but rather small, intentional acts of kindness towards myself. Sometimes, it's simply sitting by a sunny window with a cup of herbal tea, just breathing and being present. This kind of 'productive' self-care ensures I'm recharging rather than completely burning out. And then there's journaling. Oh, journaling has become such a vital part of my low-energy routine. When my thoughts feel cluttered and my brain is foggy, simply writing them down helps clear the mental fog. I don't pressure myself to write an essay; sometimes it's just a bulleted list of things I'm grateful for, or a quick brain dump of worries. Using a guided journal, like 'The Five Minute Journal' I sometimes use, makes it even easier because the prompts do the heavy lifting. It's a gentle way to process emotions, track my mood, and gain a bit of perspective without needing to engage in high-level thinking. It truly helps me start journaling when I feel overwhelmed. But let's not stop there! On other low energy days, I also find immense satisfaction in gentle decluttering. I'm not talking about a full house overhaul, but picking one small area – perhaps a single drawer, my wallet, or my desktop files – and tidying it. The visual clarity instantly boosts my mood and gives me a sense of accomplishment. Another thing I often do is batching small digital tasks. This could be replying to non-urgent emails, organizing my photos into folders, or updating my digital calendar. These are tasks that don't require intense focus but are easy to postpone. Knocking them out on a low-energy day frees up my mental space for when I have more energy. Finally, sometimes being productive on a low energy day means learning something new, passively. Instead of watching mindless TV, I might put on an interesting documentary or an educational podcast related to a hobby or a skill I want to develop. My mind is engaged, but my body can remain relaxed. It's a way to feed my curiosity without expending physical effort. Embracing these productive things to do on low energy days has transformed how I view 'downtime.' It's no longer a period of guilt, but an opportunity for gentle progress and self-nurturing. Remember, even small steps forward are still steps forward.
