STOP 5 — GRIMSHAW, ALBERTA 🎃🍂
Grimshaw might be far north, but it’s also the start of something big. Known as Mile Zero for the highway leading up into the Northwest Territories, this town is a gateway to the north. There’s a monument marking the beginning of that northern highway, making it a unique and memorable stop.
But what really stood out during our visit was the Harvest Moon Festival, an event that happened all day and a big part of it that evening (a harvest moon festival). It had that cozy, Hallmark-style Thanksgiving feel — a big market on Main Street, fun events for the kids, even a corn maze nearby. It was the kind of small-town atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, no matter how far you’ve traveled. The people were incredibly welcoming, and you could tell they were proud to share their community with visitors.
#Grimshaw might be a gateway to the north, but it’s also a reminder that no matter how far you go, you can always find a warm welcome in Alberta’s small towns.
