I Met my Best Friend in my Mid-Twenties

🪷 I used to think friendship was defined by longevity but she came into my life much later than I would expect to meet my lifelong bestie.

🪷 I could talk about her all day.

🪷 Her favorite color is pink!

🪷 I keep a note in my phone with a collection of her likes and dislikes (makes gift shopping much easier).

🪷 We met at our job 4 years ago! We became much closer within the past 2 years.

🪷 She’s essentially family. The “spare” room in my house is her bedroom. Her favorite soda and chips are always stocked.

🪷 We have had so many adventures together and have so many more planned!

🪷 I truly don’t know what I would do without her.

🪷 We both love animals, movies, and video games.

🎀 If you’re still out there feeling like you’ll never find your friend-soulmate, just wait! All good things come to those who wait. 🎀

... Read moreIt's truly amazing how life can bring you the most precious people when you least expect it. Like many of you, I always pictured my lifelong best friend being someone I grew up with, sharing childhood secrets and awkward teenage phases. But my experience taught me that true friendship isn't about how long you've known someone; it's about the depth of your connection and the joy they bring into your life. Finding a best friend in your mid-twenties, or any stage of adulthood, comes with its own unique beauty. You both bring a wealth of life experience, a clearer sense of self, and the wisdom to truly appreciate the bond you're building. There's a certain intentionality that comes with adult friendships – you choose each other not out of proximity, but out of genuine admiration and shared values. For anyone out there still waiting for their friend-soulmate, I want to share a few things I've learned. First, keep an open heart. Sometimes, the most incredible friendships blossom in unexpected places, like a new job or a shared hobby. My bestie and I bonded over our love for animals and video games, and honestly, the little things, like appreciating each other's 'My Melody girl' or 'Kuromi girl' vibes, really strengthen that connection. It’s about celebrating each other’s unique quirks. Second, nurture your friendships actively. It's not always about grand gestures. Sometimes, it's those small, heart-touching moments that mean the most – remembering their favorite snack, sending a funny meme that reminds you of them, or simply being present and truly listening when they need to talk. My friend and I have a running list of inside jokes and adventures, and I keep notes on her likes and dislikes, which makes her feel incredibly seen and valued. It's these thoughtful actions that build a strong foundation. Third, be vulnerable. Allowing yourself to be truly seen, flaws and all, is what deepens a bond. It's okay to share your struggles and your triumphs. My bestie is essentially family now; her 'spare room' in my house is always ready for her, and knowing I have someone who understands me completely is a comfort beyond words. We’ve shared so many laughs and tears, and I wouldn't trade those heart-to-heart conversations for anything. Finally, remember that friendship, like any relationship, evolves. Embrace the journey, celebrate the milestones, and don't be afraid to create new traditions. Whether it's planning future adventures or just enjoying a quiet night in, the quality of time spent together far outweighs the quantity. If you're a lady searching for that profound connection, trust that your person is out there, and when you find them, hold onto them tight. These friendships are truly a gift that keeps on giving.
