5 things I stopped doing to my hair part 2 💝 #haircare #hairtok #hairgrowthtips #hairgrowth #hairgrowthjourney
Over the past year, I noticed my hair wasn't growing as healthy as I wanted despite trying various products. That’s when I decided to evaluate my daily hair care routine and identify some habits that were doing more harm than good. One major habit I stopped was excessive heat styling. Using straighteners and curling irons daily was weakening my strands and causing breakage. Instead, I started air drying my hair more often and embracing natural styles, which allowed my hair to regain strength and moisture. Another thing I quit was washing my hair too frequently. Daily shampooing stripped my scalp of its natural oils, leaving my hair dry and brittle. Reducing wash days to 2-3 times a week helped balance the scalp’s oil production and improved overall hair texture. I also stopped over-brushing my hair. Constant brushing caused unnecessary friction and hair fall. Now I detangle gently using wide-toothed combs especially when hair is wet. Additionally, I avoided using harsh chemical treatments and colorings which often weaken hair follicles and stunt growth. Instead, I focused on nourishing my hair with natural oils like coconut and argan oil. Finally, I cut back on using certain styling products high in alcohol and sulfates. These ingredients drained moisture and added to scalp irritation, so switching to milder, sulfate-free shampoos and lighter styling creams made a big difference. Making these simple changes was a turning point in my hair growth journey. Consistency and gentle care truly nourished my scalp and hair strands, resulting in thicker, shinier, and healthier hair over time. If you’re struggling with hair health, consider evaluating your routine for similar habits that might be holding you back.
