I found that ceasing to over-explain myself freed up mental energy and strengthened my trust in my own decisions. Over-explaining can sometimes signal insecurity and invite unnecessary judgment, but when I stopped, I noticed people respected my words more. Similarly, comparing my progress or pace to others was a major confidence drain. Everyone’s journey is unique, and constantly measuring myself against others only highlighted perceived shortcomings. I remind myself now that growth is personal, and slowing down or speeding up doesn’t diminish my value. Apologizing for small things was another habit I shed. Saying sorry for trivial matters like taking up space or expressing opinions diminished my presence. I learned to reserve apologies for genuine mistakes, which reinforced my self-respect. I also stopped trying to be liked by everyone. Seeking universal approval is exhausting and ultimately unfulfilling. Embracing authenticity invites the right people into my life, cultivating genuine connections. Downplaying my progress was common too—I’d often negate my achievements to avoid appearing boastful. Recognizing and celebrating wins, big or small, helped build my confidence steadily. Altogether, these mindset shifts lightened the weight of self-doubt, allowing my confidence to flourish naturally. The journey taught me to trust myself more and shrink less, creating space for real growth and empowerment.
