ヴァイキングビルは阪急宝塚線の曽根駅近く、坂の上に位置するため、歩きながらその壮大な壁画を見ることができます。私自身も何度か服部天神駅からこの坂を登り、ヴァイキング壁画に魅せられた経験があります。壁画はただの装飾ではなく、この地域の歴史や文化を象徴しており、見る人に地域の誇りを感じさせるものです。 また、向かいにある豊中市立文化芸術センターは旧豊中市民会館の跡地であり、多くの地元住民が集う文化拠点でした。このような施設の近くにあるヴァイキングビルが解体されることは、地域の変化を象徴し ています。特に老朽化により耐震基準を満たさなくなったための解体予定は、安全面を考慮するとやむを得ませんが、かつてのランドマークが姿を消すことに少し寂しさも感じます。 近隣のダイエー曽根店も解体され、この辺りは今後大きく様変わりする可能性があります。地域の歴史を知る一人として、これらの変化を記録し、多くの人に伝えていきたいと思っています。もしヴァイキングビル周辺を訪れる際は、坂を上る際の景色や壁画の細部に注目して、昔からの町の息吹を感じてみてください。
