It is estimated that 80% of New Years Resolutions by the second Friday in January. So if you’re continuing your resolution after today, give yourself a major pat on the back!! Woot woot! Also if you have already found yourself feeling like it’s too late. It’s not. There’s not better time than right now to decide to make a change in your life!
Here’s how my resolutions are going!
🏃♀️ Fitness: My goal was to diversify my workouts which I have been working heavy on! So far I have done two weight lifting workouts per week. I did a hula hooping workout. Lastly I discovered that you can find Just Dance playlists on YouTube. Those have really helped me to switch up my workouts and keep it fun!
🧖♀️ Skin Care: I’ve been doing really well with washing my face in the morning. At night I’ve been lacking a little but trying to do better. I just get so tired at the end of the night. Although I have been able to convince myself that it’s doesn’t take much time to wash my face quickly and then lay down. Being a parent has unlocked a new level of tired.
📕Planner: It has been going very well! I pre decorated my planner for the month of January minus writing in the dates. I’m doing that weekly so I can set goals each week. I’ve really been enjoying the way I’ve been using my planner. It’s also nice not to see it full of assignments like them I was in college.
... Read moreIt's that time of year again, isn't it? The dreaded 'National Quitters Day' often looms, and with that stark statistic – '80% of Resolutions Die Today' – it's easy to feel disheartened if your New Year's goals aren't quite on track. I truly get it. That feeling of wanting to throw in the towel, to just say 'I quit' – it's universal. But what if we reframed this day not as an endpoint, but as a perfect moment for a reset?
From my own experience, and chatting with friends, resolutions often falter because we aim too high too fast, or we don’t build in enough flexibility. Life happens, right? Especially for us busy parents, finding that energy for a new routine can feel impossible. The key, I’ve found, isn’t about never stumbling, but about having strategies to pick yourself back up.
For fitness, like my goal to diversify workouts, it’s about finding joy. If the gym feels like a chore, try something completely different! YouTube has amazing resources. Beyond Just Dance, I recently discovered some fantastic short, bodyweight routines I can do at home – sometimes even holding my baby! And yes, that 'pink kettlebell' (like in the image) can be a great visual reminder of your strength goals, even if you’re just starting with light weights or bodyweight exercises. The goal isn't perfection, it's consistency.
Skincare, especially at night when you're exhausted, can feel like climbing Mount Everest. My trick? Keep wipes by the bed for those super tired nights, or just focus on one step (like a quick cleanse) instead of the whole routine. Even five minutes makes a difference. It's about building a habit that feels sustainable, not overwhelming.
And for planning, instead of trying to map out months, I've found weekly goal-setting much more manageable. It allows me to adjust for unexpected events and celebrate smaller wins. Breaking down bigger goals into tiny, actionable steps makes them far less intimidating.
So, if you've had a less-than-perfect start to your resolutions, don't let 'National Quitters Day' define your year. It's not about being perfect; it's about being persistent. If you've felt like saying 'I quit,' consider it a pause, not an end. What's one small thing you can do today to get back on track? Maybe it's just washing your face tonight, or doing 10 minutes of stretching. Every little step counts. Remember, the journey is long, and there will be ups and downs. The most important thing is to keep moving forward, even if it's just a tiny shuffle.
Let's empower each other! What are your small victories this week? How are you pushing past the 'I quit' feeling? Share your tips and experiences below – we're all in this together, trying to make our New Year's vision a reality!
