My Feelings: THIS BOOK MADE ME FEEL ALL THE FEELS. it had me giggling, crying, frustrated, kicking my feet, hot and heavy, all of it! Just ugh! The spice is there from the start. This is an amazing redemption story. Jp has my heart even if he frustrated the heck outta me. Not to mention the girl boss that Cammy is. I definitely recommend reading this and can't wait to get a physical copy of this book

As an avid reader, few books grab me from the first page and refuse to let go, but Kenna King's 'Match Penalty' did exactly that. My initial review only scratched the surface of why this book earned its impressive 4.6/5 overall rating, and I'm so excited to dive a little deeper into what makes this story an absolute must-read for any romance lover. First off, let's talk about the characters. Jp, our hockey hero and captain, is the kind of flawed but utterly lovable protagonist you can't help but root for. His journey of redemption is incredibly compelling, and you truly feel every step of his struggle and growth. Then there's Cammy, the fiery coach's daughter and a total girl boss. Her strength and resilience shine through, making her a formidable match for Jp. Their chemistry is undeniable, and watching their dynamic unfold, especially in a workplace romance setting with forced proximity, is pure magic. You can feel the pining between them, a delicious slow burn that keeps you utterly hooked. This isn't just any hockey romance; it’s a second-chance romance that masterfully weaves together themes of forgiveness, growth, and finding your way back to love. The emotional impact of this book is off the charts – I found myself giggling at their witty banter, crying during their heartbreaking moments, and kicking my feet with excitement at their passionate encounters. It’s a true emotional rollercoaster that leaves you utterly satisfied. The plot is incredibly well-crafted, keeping the pace engaging and the stakes high, all set against the backdrop of the thrilling world of professional hockey. For those wondering about the spice level, it’s a solid 3/5. It’s definitely present and adds to the intensity of Jp and Cammy's relationship, but it never overshadows the emotional depth and character development. It’s tastefully done, enhancing the romance without being gratuitous. If you’re a fan of sports romance, especially hockey books, or if you love a good second-chance trope with a dash of workplace tension and forced proximity, then 'Match Penalty' is absolutely for you. It’s part of the Hawkeyes Rooke Series, which means there’s more world-building and possibly more great stories to explore. Plus, it was coming to Kindle Unlimited, making it easily accessible for many readers. Trust me, you won't regret picking up this incredible story.
