Perfume everyone loves, but I don’t 🤔 💔
Exploring popular fragrances can be a fun journey, but sometimes the scents that everyone raves about don’t resonate with our personal preferences. For example, the Billie Eilish perfume, often hyped for its unique woody and musky scent, felt too masculine and almost like rotten fruit to me. It’s interesting how a scent can be polarizing—what smells amazing to one person might be overpowering or unpleasant to another. Similarly, Valentino Born in Roma is loved by many, yet I found it reminded me of grandma’s soap and triggered headaches. This just highlights how important individual chemistry and scent sensitivity are to perfume enjoyment. Despite this, I do get compliments when I wear Cloud by Ariana Grande, showing that even perfumes that seem polarizing have a wide range of reactions. Other fragrances like Cheirosa 71 by Sol de Janeiro gave me nausea due to the overly strong caramel popcorn vibe, and the Dossier Patchouli, inspired by Angel Mugler’s iconic scent, struck me as moldy and aftershave-esque rather than gourmand and sweet. If you’re trying to find perfumes that align with your unique sense of smell, consider testing them extensively before buying, since hype doesn’t always equal fit. Sometimes those beloved scents might not suit your skin chemistry, environment, or personal taste. My advice: trust your nose and comfort over trends, and don’t be discouraged if a popular fragrance isn’t for you. Everyone’s perfume paradise is personal and diverse.
