Old Movies You Probably Forgot About

Big Fat Liar - Who's afraid of the big bad Wolf? Not Jason Shepherd (Frankie Muniz), who has to prove that sleazy Hollywood producer Marty Wolf (Paul Giamatti) stole his class paper and turned it into a blockbuster hit movie, "Big Fat Liar." Traveling to Los Angeles with his best friend Kaylee (Amanda Bynes), Jason tries to break into show business -- literally. Through a hilarious series of pranks and ruses, Jason brings one of Hollywood's most powerful producers to his knees.

Cheaper By The Dozen - Tom (Steve Martin) and Kate Baker (Bonnie Hunt) have compromised their careers to raise 12 children. Tom coaches a high-school football team, while Kate has retired from journalism to raise the family. Things change when Tom is offered a college coaching job in a new city at the same time a publisher buys Kate's parenting memoir. After moving, Kate goes on a book tour, leaving Tom in charge of the children, who -- already unhappy about relocating -- plunge the household into chaos.

Freaky Friday - Single mother Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her teenage daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) couldn't be more different, and it is driving them both insane. After receiving cryptic fortunes at a Chinese restaurant, the two wake up the next day to discover that they have somehow switched bodies. Unable to switch back, they are forced to masquerade as one another until a solution can be found. In the process, they develop a new sense of respect and understanding for one another

... Read moreIf you're anything like me, you probably grew up watching films like 'bigFATliar' and absolutely adored them! There's just something about those early 2000s and late '90s family comedies that hit different, right? The original article touched on some fantastic picks like 'FREAKY FRIDAY' and 'CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN' (who can forget STEVE MARTIN in that one? Such a classic!), but if you're still hunting for more movies that capture that same lighthearted, mischievous, and heartwarming spirit, I've got a few more gems for your next movie marathon. First up, for anyone who loved the family dynamics and lighthearted chaos of 'Freaky Friday,' you absolutely have to revisit The Parent Trap (1998). Another Lindsay Lohan classic, this movie is pure joy! It's all about two identical twins, separated at birth, who meet at summer camp and hatch a brilliant, elaborate plan to get their parents back together. Think 'Big Fat Liar' levels of playful scheming, but with a double dose of heart and a truly iconic soundtrack. The pranks, the charm, the fashion – it's all there, making it a perfect companion to the films mentioned earlier. It’s got that same blend of innocent fun and genuine emotion that makes you smile from ear to ear. Next on my list is the unforgettable Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). While a bit older than 'Big Fat Liar,' this movie starring the incomparable Robin Williams fits right into the theme of family, disguise, and hilarious situations. A recently divorced actor dresses up as an elderly British nanny to spend more time with his children. The sheer comedic genius of Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire, coupled with the touching underlying message about family, makes this a must-watch. It shares that sense of a character going to extreme, often ridiculous, lengths for something they believe in – much like Jason in 'Big Fat Liar' trying to get his story back. It's a film that definitely pulls at your heartstrings while making you laugh out loud. And for a dose of early 2000s action-comedy that's perfect for the whole family, let's talk about Spy Kids (2001). While it leans a bit more into adventure, it maintains that fun, family-oriented vibe that makes films like 'Big Fat Liar' so rewatchable. When former spy parents are kidnapped, their children must step up to save them. It’s packed with inventive gadgets, thrilling missions, and plenty of laughs. It’s a fantastic example of kids taking charge in a big way, similar to how the kids in 'Cheaper By The Dozen' navigate their chaotic lives or how Jason outsmarts a big-time producer. It’s empowering, exciting, and wonderfully imaginative. These movies, along with the ones originally shared, are more than just films; they’re little time capsules of our youth. They offer a comforting escape, reminding us of simpler times filled with laughter, adventure, and sometimes, a little bit of mischief. Watching them again is like catching up with old friends. They prove that sometimes, the best entertainment comes from stories about family, friendship, and overcoming challenges with a good dose of humor. What other films bring back those cherished childhood memories for you? I’d love to hear your forgotten favorites!
