Top Apps that really works for ADHD

XTiles is a Notion alternative that is much easier. It’s also flexible like a bullet journal. When my Notion became cluttered and confusing, I was glad to have found this app. I like the desktop version for visualizing projects.

Toggl is used to track your time. It can be easy to misjudge time as someone with ADHD. I’ve been experimenting with a lot of different tools.

Speechify has helped me through many semesters of college. It reads just about any materials you might have for your course. I usually listen to Snoop Dogg at 1.5x speed.

... Read moreIt's a constant journey trying to figure out what truly helps manage ADHD, especially when it comes to staying organized and productive. I've tried so many different methods, and what I've learned is that the right tools can make all the difference. Beyond the apps I initially mentioned, I wanted to dive deeper into why certain features are so beneficial for ADHD brains and how I integrate them into my daily "ADHD LIFE PLANNER" routine. One of the biggest struggles for me is getting overwhelmed by too many options or a cluttered interface. That's why I found XTiles such a breath of fresh air. While many people use Notion or even Trello for task management, sometimes those can feel like building a whole new system from scratch. For my ADHD brain, Trello's card-based lists, while flexible, can still become a wall of text. XTiles, with its "visual workspace" and "customizable tiles," feels so much more intuitive. I can actually see my projects laid out visually, which helps tremendously with executive dysfunction. Instead of a long checklist, I create different tiles for different areas of my life – work, personal goals, studies – and within each tile, I can break down tasks visually. This approach helps me avoid the "out of sight, out of mind" trap and makes the planning process less daunting. It's like having a digital bullet journal that's always perfectly organized, without the effort of drawing everything myself. Time blindness is another huge challenge. It's so easy for minutes to turn into hours without me realizing it. That's where apps like Toggl become indispensable for "adhd management app" needs. The simple "start/stop timer" is brilliant because it removes any friction from tracking. I just hit a button, and it records how long I'm spending on a task. But it's not just about tracking; it's about building awareness. Seeing where my time actually goes helps me plan more realistically and prevents that feeling of "where did the day go?" I've also experimented with its "Pomodoro timer" feature, which is fantastic for structured focus. Setting a timer for 25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break helps me manage my energy and prevents burnout, especially during long study sessions. Beyond planning and time, maintaining motivation and focus is key. Speechify, with its "text-to-speech" capabilities, has been a lifesaver for college, allowing me to absorb information even when reading feels impossible. But what about staying motivated for mundane tasks or building new habits? This is where the concept of gamification, often seen in apps that provide "karma" scores or use appealing "mascot characters," can be really powerful for ADHD. While I haven't personally used apps like Finch, I understand the appeal for someone searching "Catzy vs Finch." The idea of having a virtual pet or a progress bar that responds to your actions can provide that external motivation and immediate feedback that ADHD brains crave. It turns boring tasks into a mini-game. For me, even just seeing my progress bar fill up in a simpler habit tracker provides a similar dopamine hit. It's about finding those little rewards to keep you engaged. When looking for any "apps for adhd," I always recommend looking for a few key things: Low Friction: The easier an app is to use, the more likely you'll stick with it. Visual Appeal: For many of us with ADHD, visual cues are much more effective than dense text. Customization: Our brains are all different, so apps that let you tailor them to your unique needs are invaluable. Feedback/Gamification: Anything that offers a sense of progress or a little reward can help maintain momentum. Finding the right mix of tools is a personal journey, but by understanding what genuinely helps our ADHD brains, we can build a system that truly supports us. It's about less struggle and more progress, one app at a time.

I don’t have ADHD but I had hard time remembering lectures and just audio recordings wouldn’t do since I’m not native English speaker sometimes things just sound completely different for me so I used Otter.io. It’s pricey but it’s speech to text and it picked up on things even I didn’t hear that transcripted accurately
