It's a constant battle. 🧠🫀

2025/1/20 Edited to

... Read moreIt's true what they say: 'One of the hardest battles a person has to fight is the war between the mind that knows the truth and the heart that just refuses to accept it.' I've felt this deeply in my own journey. There are times when my mind rationally understands a situation, but my heart clings to old feelings – whether it's sadness, anxiety, or just a general sense of unease. This constant internal struggle, this battle with our minds, can be incredibly draining, making it hard to find that mental equilibrium we all crave for genuine happiness and fulfillment. Overcoming adversity often feels like an uphill climb, and honestly, most of that battle truly is in our minds. We're not just fighting external circumstances, but also the thoughts and beliefs that have formed through our life experiences. I've learned that mental wellness isn't about eliminating all negative feelings, but rather about developing strategies to navigate them more effectively. One practice that has profoundly helped me is cultivating self-awareness. Taking a moment to simply observe my thoughts and feelings without judgment, rather than getting swept away by them, has been a game-changer. It’s like creating a little distance between myself and the emotional storm. When I feel overwhelmed by stress or anxiety, I ask myself: 'What is my mind telling me, and what is my heart truly feeling right now?' Often, the mind knows the logical solution, but the heart needs compassion and time to catch up and accept that truth. Another crucial step is embracing emotional acceptance. Instead of fighting against feelings of sadness or frustration, I try to acknowledge them. It’s okay to not be okay sometimes. This doesn't mean dwelling on them, but rather allowing them to be present, like clouds passing in the sky. Paired with this, I've found immense value in simple breathing exercises. Just a few deep breaths can calm the nervous system and help me regain a sense of control when the inner battle feels too intense. To help find my equilibrium, I make sure to incorporate activities that bring me joy and a sense of purpose. Whether it's a vigorous gym session – which is great for channeling that mental energy – or spending time in nature, these moments help to re-center me. Surrounding myself with supportive friends and family, and sometimes even just journaling my thoughts, also provides an outlet and helps in processing those difficult emotions. These practices aren't a magic fix, but they are tools I've gathered to help me fight the good fight. They've taught me resilience and how to be kinder to myself during the harder moments. Looking ahead, I see these as life-long anchors, helping me to stay balanced and mentally stable, no matter what challenges come my way. It’s a journey, not a destination, but with these strategies, I feel much better equipped to win the war within.

I can remember random facts from years ago but forget appointments, deadlines, or if I locked the door. It makes me feel unreliable, even when I’m trying my hardest. I overthink that people think I just don’t care when I forget important things often but ADHD isn’t a lack of care… it’s a consta
