Library haul + books that caught my eye

Hi! So today I went to my local library and checked out two new books 📚 💕 :)

There were a couple that I did pick up but decided not to take home for now. I decided to go with “Antiquitites” by Cynthia Ozick and “The Stranger” by Albert Camus. I’ve never heard of these books before but I read the blurbs and they caught my attention.

The blurb for “Antiquitites” starts with “From one of our most preeminent writers, a tale that captures the shifting meanings of the past and how our experience colors those meanings”. "Antiquities" is a novella about Lloyd Wilkinson Petrie, who reflects on his past at a defunct boys' school. He becomes obsessed with a mysterious classmate, Ben-Zion Elefantin, who claimed to be a descendant of an ancient Jewish tribe. Focuses on themes of memory, identity, and time.

“The Stranger” by Albert Camus was my second choice for one of his books. Originally I wanted to take “The Plagues” but the book looked so fragile at the library I decided that I’ll get the e book instead to save that one😭. The novel is about a French-Algerian man, Meursault, who commits senseless murder after the death of his mother. The story explains themes of absurdity, existentialism, and the meaning of life through the detached and unemotional perspective of Meursault.

Now that I’m writing these descriptions I realized how dark these books are lol. I can’t wait to finish them and post a review :).

Do y’all go to your local library? If so which section to you gravitate towards?

I’ve only recently started going to the library again and I absolutely love it, definitely my new happy place! Right now I find myself going towards fantasy and thrillers but I’ll wonder everywhere
