Some people think we're angry. Some people think we're bitter. Some people think we just can't let go.
But women like us. We're not angry. We're just done pretending.
We know what it's like to give everything to someone who only took. We know what it's like to shrink ourselves so they could feel big. We know what it's like to apologize for things we didn't do wrong just to keep the peace for one more day.
Women like us have loved in ways that should have been enough. We gave our softness to hands that didn't know how to hold it gently. We gave our trust to mouths that spoke promises they never intended to keep. We gave our bodies to people who never bothered to learn what we liked, what we needed, what made us feel safe.
And somewhere along the way we started believing we were too much. Too emotional. Too sensitive. Too demanding. Too complicated. Too hard to love.
But women like us. We're not too much. We were just loving people who were too little.
Too little emotional capacity. Too little self-awareness. Too little willingness to grow. Too little ability to see us for who we actually were instead of who they wanted us to be.
We stayed because we believed in potential. We stayed because we saw the broken boy behind the angry man and we thought if we just loved him hard enough he would heal. We stayed because leaving felt like failure. We stayed because we didn't know if anyone else would want us.
Women like us. We know the sound of a door slamming. We know the feeling of walking on eggshells so carefully we forgot we had feet. We know what it's like to make ourselves smaller and smaller until we barely existed in our own lives.
But here's what they don't tell you about women like us.
We're also the ones who survive. We're the ones who pack up the pieces of ourselves and walk out even when every part of us is screaming to stay. We're the ones who rebuild from nothing. We're the ones who learn to trust ourselves again even when the world told us we couldn't trust our own judgment. We're the ones who turn pain into purpose.
Women like us love differently after we've been broken. Not less. Just different. We guard our softness because we know how easily it can be wounded. We pay attention to actions more than words. We notice the small things. The way someone looks at us when we're talking. Whether they actually hear us or just wait for their turn to speak. Whether they make us feel safe or like we have to perform.
We don't ask for much. We ask for honesty. Consistency. Follow-through. The same energy we give. The ability to sit with us in the hard moments without trying to fix everything or run away. We ask to be seen. Really seen. Not as a project. Not as a conquest. Not as a placeholder. Just seen.
And when we find someone who can do that, who can actually hold space for who we are without trying to change us, we love them in ways that surprise even us. We love them fiercely. We love them fully. We love them without the walls we spent years building.
But until then, we're okay. We're learning. We're growing. We're becoming the women we needed when we were younger. We're breaking cycles. We're teaching our daughters what love should look like. We're showing our sons how to respect women by refusing to accept less.
Women like us. We're not broken. We're just built differently. Built by fire. Built by loss. Built by choosing ourselves when no one else would.
And that makes us dangerous. Not dangerous in a way that hurts people. Dangerous in a way that means we'll never be fooled again. Dangerous in a way that means we know our worth and won't bargain it away for crumbs. Dangerous in a way that means we can walk away and mean it.
So if you're a woman like us, I see you. I know the weight you carry. I know the nights you spent crying into pillows so no one would hear. I know the moments you almost gave up. I know the strength it took to get here.
You're not alone. And you're not crazy. And you're not too much.
You're just finally becoming who you were always meant to be.
And that is a beautiful, terrifying, powerful thing.
