We often speak about love as though it is something we decide. We choose to stay. We choose to forgive. We choose to fight for someone. And perhaps all of those things are true. But are they love, or are they the choices we make after love has already arrived?

No one chooses whose smile quiets their mind. No one plans the exact moment a stranger becomes home. Love rarely asks for permission. It appears without logic, beyond calculation, and often beyond our control. Yet once it enters our lives, it places a question before us. Will we protect it, or will we let fear, pride, and time slowly take it away?

Maybe love itself is not a choice. Maybe love is the unexpected visitor. The choice begins only after the door has been opened.

... Read moreIn my own experience, love often feels like a sudden awakening—something that catches you by surprise and changes your perspective on life. Unlike many decisions we rationally plan, love tends to appear unexpectedly, sparking feelings that defy logic and calculation. I've noticed that people frequently confuse love with the conscious choices they make afterward, like deciding to stay committed or to forgive. But the essence of love itself often precedes these choices, as an organic force that cannot simply be willed into existence. When love first enters your life, it can feel both exhilarating and frightening because it demands vulnerability. The decision-making begins after you open the door to love—not before. Protecting love requires effort, patience, and sometimes courage to confront fears and pride. From personal experience, sustaining love means actively choosing to nurture what arrived spontaneously, understanding that love’s presence isn’t guaranteed without ongoing care. Love’s unpredictability makes it a profound teacher. It reminds me that the most genuine connections aren’t built from convenience or calculation but from embracing the unknown and allowing ourselves to be changed by it. This perspective has shaped how I approach relationships, valuing the unexpected moments that create a deeper bond beyond just choice alone. Love, in essence, transforms how we see ourselves and others—the unexpected visitor whose arrival marks the beginning of an ongoing journey rather than an easy decision.
