taking birth control made me EXHAUSTED

taking birth control made me EXHAUSTED. like the kind of exhaustion where you wake up tired, drag through the day with brain fog, and can’t figure out why your body feels so heavy. i thought maybe it was stress or not enough sleep, but deep down i knew something was off. when i finally connected the dots back to the pill, i realized how much it was affecting me: my energy, my mood, even my motivation to show up for myself. it wasn’t just “a little tired” it was this lingering exhaustion that kept me from feeling like me. since stopping, i’ve been learning how to support my hormones naturally. more protein and whole foods, better sleep hygiene, strength training, and lowering stress (hard, but worth it). i feel lighter, clearer, and so much more myself. i’m not saying birth control is bad for everyone bc i know it helps a lot of women. but i wish someone had told me to really pay attention to how my body felt on it. have you ever experienced side effects from birth control? what was it like for you, and did you end up staying on it or trying something else?

... Read moreMany women experience varied side effects when using birth control, ranging from mood changes to physical symptoms like exhaustion. This often depends on the type of hormone used, individual body chemistry, and other lifestyle factors. For those facing similar fatigue and brain fog, it's important to understand that birth control does not have a one-size-fits-all effect. In the forum discussions, users have highlighted the importance of listening to your body and monitoring changes closely. Some have reported improved mood and control over menstrual cycles, while others have battled with persistent lows and side effects that overshadow benefits. It is essential to communicate openly with healthcare providers about any adverse symptoms. Supporting hormonal health naturally involves a multi-faceted approach: increasing protein intake and whole foods helps stabilize blood sugar and supports hormone production; improving sleep hygiene enhances recovery and mental clarity; strength training can boost metabolism and regulate hormones; and stress reduction, though challenging, plays a crucial role in balancing cortisol and other stress hormones that impact overall energy levels. Understanding that everyone’s experience varies encourages women to make informed choices—whether it’s continuing birth control, trying different formulations, or adopting natural methods. Sharing experiences within communities such as #lemon8partner and #girltalk can provide valuable insight and support. If you’ve noticed changes since starting or stopping birth control, considering these strategies may help reclaim your vitality and better align your health with your personal needs.

I’ve absolutely hated my BC experiences. The added hormones did nothing positive for my mental health. After this child, I’m just going to have my tubes removed. Hopefully that will help much more.
