... Read moreHi everyone! I'm so excited to finally share a deeper dive into my most ambitious project yet: bringing the Nosey animatronic to life! You've probably seen some glimpses, but there's so much more behind the scenes. This isn't just a casual build; it's a true passion project, heavily inspired by the chilling aesthetics of The Walten Files and the iconic animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's. I wanted to create something truly unique, and Nosey felt like the perfect challenge. My journey started, as many sculpture projects do, with extensive planning. I spent countless hours perfecting the blueprint-style drawing of Nosey, ensuring every detail, from the menacing grin to the joint articulation, was just right. I even sketched out multiple views and head designs to get the Nosey animatronic face exactly how I envisioned it – a balance of eerie and mechanically complex. Having a human figure for scale in the blueprints was crucial, helping me visualize the final size and ensure the proportions felt right for an imposing animatronic character. These detailed drawings became my bible throughout the entire construction process. Then came the hands-on part: the welding and sculpture. It’s been a steep learning curve, but incredibly rewarding. I’ve been meticulously crafting the skeletal structure from various metal components. You might have seen the partially assembled metal animatronic legs and arms in my workshop photos; these are the foundational pieces that give Nosey its imposing presence. Each joint needs to be strong and articulated, which requires precise cuts and careful welding techniques. I've been experimenting with different metal gauges to find the perfect balance of durability and workability. The detail work on the metal animatronic arm and hand assembly has been particularly challenging but also very satisfying, as I aim for both flexibility and a realistic, albeit stylized, appearance. It's amazing to see these raw materials slowly transform into something that feels alive, even in its incomplete state. My workshop is currently a maze of tools and equipment, from my welding gear to grinders and various shaping tools. There's a real sense of progress seeing the metal take form, day by day. This isn't just about assembling parts; it's about giving Nosey a personality through its physical construction. The goal is not just a static display, but a fully articulated figure that can convey a wide range of motion, eventually. I've faced a few hiccups, like getting certain welds just right or fitting intricate pieces, but overcoming these challenges makes the progress even sweeter. This Nosey project is far from over, but I wanted to share this significant update on the building process. It’s been an incredible blend of technical skill and artistic vision. I’m constantly learning new techniques in welding and metal sculpting, pushing my boundaries. If you're thinking about tackling an ambitious animatronic build yourself, my advice is to start with detailed blueprints and embrace the challenges – every setback is a learning opportunity! Stay tuned for more updates as Nosey continues to take shape, and let me know in the comments if you have any questions about the build!
